About the role
Adyen operates a global financial technology platform supporting major clients like Meta, Uber, H&M, and Microsoft. As a member of our Bengaluru-based Storage team, you will manage our data infrastructure to ensure high availability and scalability. You will be responsible for the full lifecycle of our storage systems, from initial design to ongoing maintenance and disaster recovery planning. In this capacity, you will translate business requirements into robust storage architectures and oversee their deployment in production environments. You will act as a technical leader, driving initiatives to optimize performance, enhance resilience, and streamline operations across the platform. Your work will directly impact the reliability of critical financial transactions and enterprise services. You will continuously evaluate emerging technologies and best practices to future-proof our infrastructure strategy.

What you'll do
- Architect and implement storage infrastructure, including SAN and Object Storage solutions, to align with business growth objectives.
- Oversee system performance and reliability through continuous monitoring and proactive tuning of storage arrays.
- Conduct capacity planning to forecast and meet future data requirements while optimizing resource utilization and cost efficiency.
- Create and execute protocols for data replication, backups, and disaster recovery to ensure business continuity and data integrity.
- Diagnose and resolve complex storage system incidents, performing root cause analysis and implementing permanent fixes.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation for all configurations, operational procedures, and change management activities.
- Partner with other engineering groups on system integrations, migrations, and upgrades to ensure seamless collaboration and delivery.
- Use infrastructure-as-code and scripting to automate storage provisioning tasks, reducing manual effort and human error.
- Collaborate with security teams to implement and audit data protection measures, encryption standards, and access controls.
- Participate in on-call rotations to provide rapid response and support for critical storage issues at any time.
- Evaluate, test, and recommend new storage technologies and vendors to support evolving platform demands.
- Optimize storage performance for high-transaction environments, ensuring low latency and high throughput for critical applications.
- Coordinate with procurement and finance teams to manage hardware lifecycle, vendor relationships, and purchase decisions.
- Mentor junior engineers by sharing knowledge, conducting code and configuration reviews, and promoting best practices.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Linux systems administration with a specific focus on storage technologies like Ceph.
- Demonstrated expertise working with enterprise storage hardware from vendors such as Purestorage, NetApp, EMC, Dell, IBM, or Hitachi.
- Deep technical knowledge of storage fundamentals including RAID, LVM, NFS, iSCSI, multipathing, and file systems like ext4, XFS, and ZFS.
- Practical experience managing clustering technologies and enterprise storage environments in high-availability configurations.
- Proficiency in shell scripting to automate routine administrative tasks and improve operational efficiency.
- Strong understanding of network protocols, including TCP/IP, Fibre Channel, and iSCSI, as they relate to storage connectivity.
- Experience with logging, auditing, and compliance requirements relevant to financial technology and data-sensitive environments.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a distributed team, taking ownership of complex problems from identification to resolution.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of explaining technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Willingness to adhere to strict operational standards and follow established change management procedures.
- Commitment to continuous learning and staying current with storage technologies, security threats, and industry trends.

- Experience with automation tools such as Ansible or Puppet.
- Programming skills in Python.
- Familiarity with virtualization platforms like KVM or VMware.
- Understanding of cloud-based storage services including AWS S3 and EBS.
- Knowledge of monitoring stacks such as Prometheus, Zabbix, or Nagios.
