This role requires a proactive approach to uncovering information and building trust with key stakeholders across the industry. You will collaborate closely with internal teams to verify facts and develop joint coverage that meets the standards of a professional data and analysis platform. The position demands a high degree of curiosity and resilience when navigating the fast-moving and often opaque world of credit markets. You will be expected to own specific coverage verticals, driving editorial decisions from story identification to publication. What you'll do
Every day is different, but the role involves a core set of responsibilities critical to 9fin's mission in the debt markets. You will proactively cultivate deep sources within banking, investing, and trading communities to secure timely intelligence. This includes independently researching and writing on-the-diary and off-the-diary stories that move the leveraged finance market. You will partner with cross-functional colleagues to validate information and co-create comprehensive analytical content. Participation in source engagements, industry conferences, and briefings will be essential to expand relationship capital and market understanding. You will undertake structured training modules focused on advanced interviewing techniques and financial market nuances. Mastering the craft of producing concise, accurate, and engaging narratives around intricate financial structures and deals is a central requirement. You will track specific sectors and themes to establish yourself as a go-to reporter for defined coverage areas. The role requires exercising sound judgment in handling sensitive information and ensuring compliance with media regulations. You will contribute to a collaborative newsroom environment where insights are shared to elevate collective output and identify and pitch story ideas that highlight emerging trends and critical events in the debt markets landscape.
- Proactively cultivate deep sources within banking, investors, and trading communities to secure timely intelligence.
- Write on-diary and off-diary stories independently that impact the leveraged finance market.
- Work with other members of our team to confirm information and produce collaborative content.
- Attend source meetings, conferences, briefings, and other occasions to build and maintain source relationships.
- Receive formal and informal training in interviewing, source-building, news writing, media law, and financial markets.
- Produce concise, fluent English that makes technical topics accessible and engaging.
- Track specific sectors and themes to establish yourself as a go-to reporter for defined coverage areas.
- Exercise judgment in handling sensitive information and ensuring compliance with media regulations.

Salary: $100,000-$160,000 (depending on experience)
