This role is critical for ensuring the quality and reliability of our software applications, particularly those that require a TS/SCI Full Scope Polygraph clearance. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software testing methodologies and a passion for delivering high-quality software solutions. You will work closely with development teams to identify issues, enhance testing processes, and contribute to the overall success of our projects.

What you'll do

• Develop and execute comprehensive test plans and test cases for various software applications, ensuring all functional and non-functional requirements are met.
• Collaborate with software developers and project managers to understand project requirements and provide feedback on potential issues early in the development cycle.
• Perform manual and automated testing to identify defects, document findings, and track issues through to resolution.
• Utilize various testing tools and frameworks to enhance testing efficiency and effectiveness, including but not limited to Selenium, JUnit, and TestNG.
• Conduct regression testing to ensure that new code changes do not adversely affect existing functionalities.
• Participate in code reviews and design discussions to provide insights on quality considerations and best practices.
• Maintain detailed documentation of test results, issues, and resolutions to support project tracking and reporting.
• Provide training and mentorship to junior QA team members, fostering a culture of quality within the team.
• Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in software testing methodologies to continuously improve testing processes.
• Assist in the development and implementation of quality assurance standards and best practices across the organization.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of software applications into existing systems.
• Engage in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the overall quality of software products and services.

Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in software quality assurance or application testing, preferably in a government or defense environment.
• Proven experience with both manual and automated testing methodologies and tools.
• Strong understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC) and agile methodologies.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience with scripting languages such as Python or JavaScript is a plus.
• Familiarity with version control systems like Git and CI/CD pipelines is advantageous.
• Must possess a TS/SCI Full Scope Polygraph clearance to be eligible for this position.

Nice to have

• Experience with performance testing tools such as JMeter or LoadRunner.
• Knowledge of security testing practices and tools to ensure application integrity.
• Familiarity with cloud-based testing environments and tools, particularly AWS or Azure.
• Experience in mobile application testing across various platforms.
• Certification in software testing (e.g., ISTQB, CSTE) is a plus.

Skills & tools

• Proficient in using testing tools such as Selenium, JUnit, TestNG, and others.
• Strong knowledge of defect tracking tools like JIRA or Bugzilla.
• Familiarity with automation frameworks and continuous integration tools.
• Understanding of database management and SQL for backend testing.
• Experience with performance and load testing tools.

• This position is based in Chantilly, Virginia, and may require occasional travel to client sites or other company locations.
• Candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI Full Scope Polygraph clearance.
