5icloud Solutions is seeking a dedicated Software Quality Assurance Specialist/Applications Tester to join our dynamic team in Chantilly, Virginia. This role is critical for ensuring the quality and reliability of our software applications, particularly those that require a TS/SCI Full Scope Polygraph clearance. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software testing methodologies and a passion for delivering high-quality software solutions. You will work closely with development teams to identify issues, enhance testing processes, and contribute to the overall success of our projects.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Develop and execute comprehensive test plans and test cases for various software applications, ensuring all functional and non-functional requirements are met.
- Collaborate with software developers and project managers to understand project requirements and provide feedback on potential issues early in the development cycle.
- Perform manual and automated testing to identify defects, document findings, and track issues through to resolution.
- Utilize various testing tools and frameworks to enhance testing efficiency and effectiveness, including but not limited to Selenium, JUnit, and TestNG.
- Conduct regression testing to ensure that new code changes do not adversely affect existing functionalities.
- Participate in code reviews and design discussions to provide insights on quality considerations and best practices.
- Maintain detailed documentation of test results, issues, and resolutions to support project tracking and reporting.
- Provide training and mentorship to junior QA team members, fostering a culture of quality within the team.
- Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in software testing methodologies to continuously improve testing processes.
- Assist in the development and implementation of quality assurance standards and best practices across the organization.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of software applications into existing systems.
- Engage in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the overall quality of software products and services.
Requirements
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in software quality assurance or application testing, preferably in a government or defense environment.
- Proven experience with both manual and automated testing methodologies and tools.
- Strong understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC) and agile methodologies.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience with scripting languages such as Python or JavaScript is a plus.
- Familiarity with version control systems like Git and CI/CD pipelines is advantageous.
- Must possess a TS/SCI Full Scope Polygraph clearance to be eligible for this position.
Nice to have
- Experience with performance testing tools such as JMeter or LoadRunner.
- Knowledge of security testing practices and tools to ensure application integrity.
- Familiarity with cloud-based testing environments and tools, particularly AWS or Azure.
- Experience in mobile application testing across various platforms.
- Certification in software testing (e.g., ISTQB, CSTE) is a plus.
Skills & tools
- Proficient in using testing tools such as Selenium, JUnit, TestNG, and others.
- Strong knowledge of defect tracking tools like JIRA or Bugzilla.
- Familiarity with automation frameworks and continuous integration tools.
- Understanding of database management and SQL for backend testing.
- Experience with performance and load testing tools.
