About the role
Bamboohr is seeking a skilled Cloud Engineer with a TS/SCI Full Scope Polygraph clearance to join our dynamic team in Herndon, Virginia. As a Cloud Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and maintaining cloud infrastructure that meets stringent security requirements. What you'll do
- Design, implement, and manage cloud infrastructure solutions tailored to meet the needs of our clients in the defense sector.
- Collaborate with software developers and system architects to create cloud-native applications, ensuring optimal performance and security.
- Conduct thorough assessments of existing cloud environments, identifying areas for improvement and implementing best practices for cloud governance.
- Automate deployment processes using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or AWS CloudFormation to enhance efficiency and reliability.
- Monitor cloud resources and applications to ensure high availability and performance, utilizing tools like CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, or similar services.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to cloud infrastructure, ensuring minimal downtime and disruption to services.
- Stay updated with the latest cloud technologies and trends, providing recommendations for enhancements and upgrades to existing systems.
- Develop and maintain documentation for cloud architecture, processes, and procedures to ensure compliance with security standards and operational excellence.
- Provide technical guidance and support to team members and clients, fostering a collaborative environment that encourages knowledge sharing.
- Participate in security audits and assessments, ensuring that all cloud solutions adhere to the highest security protocols and compliance requirements.
- Engage in continuous learning and professional development to enhance your expertise in cloud technologies and security practices.
- Support the implementation of disaster recovery and business continuity plans to safeguard critical data and applications.
Requirements
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in cloud engineering or related fields, with a strong focus on security and compliance.
- Proficiency in cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, with relevant certifications preferred (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect Expert).
- Extensive experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools, including Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or similar technologies.
- Strong understanding of networking concepts, security protocols, and cloud architecture best practices.
- Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment, demonstrating leadership and mentorship capabilities.
