Key facts
What you'll do
- Take charge of the Austin office's network infrastructure, ensuring both wired and wireless connections are reliable and efficient.
- Oversee the management of physical security systems, including access control measures, surveillance cameras, and integrated security platforms.
- Work closely with the Security team to ensure compliance with regulations, maintain audit trails, and uphold governance standards for physical security.
- Liaise with building management to facilitate physical integrations and ensure ongoing maintenance of office systems.
- Cultivate relationships with vendors and manage the lifecycle of hardware related to workplace infrastructure, focusing on uptime and reliability.
- Provide direct IT assistance to employees in the Austin office, addressing issues related to hardware, software, peripherals, and audiovisual systems.
- Collaborate with the remote IT Support team to ensure a seamless support experience and enhance in-person support processes.
- Oversee the technology onboarding process for new hires in Austin, which includes setting up devices and conducting orientation sessions.
- Manage audiovisual systems across various office spaces, proactively troubleshooting issues related to video conferencing, room scheduling, and display technologies.
- Contribute to the overall IT support queue by addressing remote requests, prioritizing tickets, and creating helpful documentation.
- Develop and maintain operational documentation, runbooks, and knowledge articles to help scale workplace support effectively.
- Identify and implement opportunities for process improvement, tool enhancement, and better employee experiences.
- Ensure that the office environment is welcoming by maintaining reliable and user-friendly workplace technology.
- Collaborate with various teams, including People, IT, Security, Finance, and Communications, to streamline workplace operations.
- Serve as the main point of contact for building management and facilities vendors, coordinating maintenance and service requests as needed.
- Occasionally provide operational support beyond technology, such as coordinating building maintenance or assisting with deliveries.
Requirements
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in IT support, workplace technology, or infrastructure, with practical experience in office settings.
- Proficiency in office networking, including both wired and wireless configurations, using platforms like Cisco Meraki, Aruba, or Ubiquiti.
- Hands-on experience with workplace audiovisual systems, including video conferencing, room scheduling, multi-zone audio, and display technologies.
- Familiarity with physical security systems, including access control and camera systems.
- Experience in supporting office environments, which includes working with vendors, building management, and cross-functional teams.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to adapt and thrive in a fast-paced environment, managing changing priorities while developing new processes and refining existing ones.
Nice to have
- Previous experience in a remote-first organization supporting physical office infrastructure.
- Familiarity with Mobile Device Management (MDM) platforms and managing device lifecycles.
- Understanding of SOC 2 or ISO 27001 standards related to workplace technology and physical security.
- Experience in creating documentation, operational processes, or workplace standards from the ground up.
- Comfort with automating building workflows to minimize manual operational tasks.

Practical notes
