About the role

ZoomInfo is where careers accelerate. You will own the design and delivery of high-impact services that power our Backstage platform and enable our enterprise customers. You will be responsible for building and maintaining critical ingestion pipelines that sync entities from Helm, ArgoCD, GCP, and GitHub on strict schedules. You will extend our developer-facing tooling with features such as maturity scoring, change management workflows, and AI-generated reports. You will develop and operate LLM-powered services and MCP servers that expose catalog and engineering data to both humans and agents. You will ensure reliability and performance on GKE through GitOps-driven operations and incident response. You will partner closely with governance, architecture, and infrastructure teams to translate product needs into scalable platform models. What you'll do

Design, build, and own services across our 20+ microservice Backstage platform using TypeScript and Node.js, exposing REST and GraphQL APIs consumed by other services and the Backstage frontend.
Own the Backstage catalog and ingestion pipeline that syncs entities from Helm, ArgoCD, GCP, and GitHub - nightly and on-demand - ensuring correctness and performance at scale.
Extend the platform with engineering maturity scoring, change management workflows, AI-generated reports, and test management tooling that drive measurable developer outcomes.
Develop LLM-powered services and MCP servers that make catalog and engineering data accessible to humans and AI agents through robust, production-grade interfaces.
Own service reliability on GKE via ArgoCD GitOps, PostgreSQL and Redis datastores, and Datadog monitoring, including incident response and runbook ownership for critical platforms.
Collaborate with engineering, governance, architecture, and infrastructure teams to define catalog models, golden paths, and self-service tooling that unblocks large-scale adoption.
Implement secure, scalable integration patterns for third-party data sources and internal services, optimizing for resilience, latency, and observability.
Drive automation of platform operations, including deployment pipelines, schema migrations, and data reconciliation jobs using infrastructure-as-code practices.
Analyze platform usage, surface insights, and partner with product teams to prioritize improvements that enhance developer experience and platform scalability.
Mentor engineers on best practices for API design, distributed systems, and cloud-native patterns within the Backstage ecosystem.
Translate complex business requirements into technical specifications that balance speed, quality, and long-term platform maintainability.
Participate in on-call rotations and contribute to post-incident reviews that improve reliability and developer trust in the platform.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
5+ years in Software Engineering with experience building Internal Developer Platforms or Platform/Infrastructure tooling.
Advanced proficiency in TypeScript and Node.js with strong software architecture fundamentals.
Hands-on experience designing and shipping REST and GraphQL APIs in production environments.
Hands-on experience building or extending Backstage - including plugin development, catalog model, software templates, and TechDocs.
Strong proficiency with PostgreSQL and Redis; MongoDB familiarity is a plus.
Experience with Kubernetes (GKE) and GCP - deployment, scaling, and production troubleshooting.
Hands-on experience with ArgoCD, Helm, and GitHub Actions for CI/CD and GitOps workflows.
Working proficiency with Terraform for cloud infrastructure management.
Practical experience integrating LLMs into production services; familiarity with MCP or Agentic AI patterns.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment where priorities evolve quickly.
Strong written and verbal communication skills for coordinating across distributed teams and stakeholders.
Commitment to learning and applying security, compliance, and operational best practices at scale.
Willingness to contribute to technical documentation, runbooks, and knowledge-sharing initiatives that empower the broader organization.

Nice to have

Experience contributing to open source platforms and developer tools.
Familiarity with observability frameworks, tracing, and log aggregation beyond Datadog.
Background in building or extending CI/CD pipelines for large-scale distributed systems.
Exposure to AI-assisted development workflows and prompt engineering for platform tooling.
Experience with cost optimization and performance tuning in cloud-native environments.
