Financial Audit Response Analyst
Job description
About the role
The Financial Audit Response Analyst position at XLA is a specialized role focused on the integrity and compliance of financial processes within a federal framework. The core mandate involves acting as a critical support for financial oversight, ensuring that all monetary activities are transparent, accurate, and adhere to strict regulatory guidelines. The successful candidate will be responsible for processing complex financial data streams and maintaining meticulous records that serve as the foundation for government reporting obligations. This function requires a deep commitment to compliance with federal accounting standards, ensuring that every entry and adjustment meets the rigorous benchmarks set by governing bodies. Professional discretion is paramount, as the role involves handling sensitive financial information that demands confidentiality and sound judgment. The work is inherently analytical, requiring the hire to investigate financial variance and construct robust models that explain deviations from expected outcomes. This analytical output directly supports the work of finance teams, controllers, and FP&A professionals, providing the data integrity necessary for accurate forecasts and reliable budget frameworks. The role operates within a structured calendar, respecting tight fiscal timelines that govern monthly closes and annual planning cycles. Ultimately, the position demands a mindset where accuracy is non-negotiable and every deliverable is fully traceable and audit-ready.
What you'll do
On a daily basis, the Financial Audit Response Analyst will engage in a cycle of data processing, verification, and reporting that directly impacts the financial health of the organization. You will be tasked with the meticulous intake and validation of financial data, ensuring that records are complete, consistent, and aligned with federal accounting mandates. A significant portion of the role will involve producing government reports that summarize financial activity and compliance status, requiring strong attention to detail and formatting standards. You will build and maintain financial models designed to explain variance, providing clear narratives that help leadership understand performance against projections. Collaboration is central to the function; you will work closely with controllers to ensure accounting records are accurate and that internal controls are effective. You will also partner with FP&A professionals to translate strategic business objectives into financial plans, forecasts, and analysis that drive decision-making. The role requires strict adherence to deadlines, particularly during monthly close periods and annual planning cycles, where the accuracy and timeliness of your work are critical. Every document you produce, whether a spreadsheet dataset or a narrative report, must be precise, well-documented, and fully auditable to satisfy internal and external reviewers.
