Platform Engineer (Hybrid)

About the role

Wyetech is seeking a Cloud Platform Engineer to join our team on federal government contracts. In this role, you will design, build, and manage software components and infrastructure using cloud technologies. The ideal candidate will have experience with AWS, programming in Python or Go, and a strong foundation in Linux. You will work autonomously to solve complex problems and contribute to strategic objectives. This is a hybrid position with opportunities to work from our San Antonio office.

U.S. Citizenship and appropriate security clearance are required for this position due to federal contract requirements.

What you'll do

• Design, build, and manage virtual infrastructure using infrastructure as code tools.
• Develop and integrate custom software components using Python or Go.
• Deploy and manage containerized applications and Kubernetes clusters.
• Implement and automate CI/CD pipelines for application delivery.
• Support operating system deployment and configuration at scale.
• Troubleshoot complex technical issues and improve system reliability.
• Collaborate with architects to align solutions with strategic objectives.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Current U.S. Government Security clearance or ability to obtain one; U.S. citizenship required. Consideration for candidates with Secret or TS/SCI clearance.
• 5+ years of experience in Platform Engineering or Software Development with Python or Go and a Bachelor's degree, OR 3 years relevant experience with a Master's degree, OR High School Diploma or equivalent with 9 years relevant experience.
• Ability to work in a hybrid environment, averaging 2 days per week in the San Antonio office.
• Experience with OS deployment and orchestration tools such as kickstart, ansible, or puppet.
• Experience with deploying and managing Kubernetes and container orchestration.
• Experience with container tools such as Docker or Podman and Kubernetes automation tools like Helm, Kustomize, or Flux CD.
• Proficiency in Linux systems, networking, security, and shell scripting in Shell or Bash.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting capabilities.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Nice to have

• Current Secret or TS/SCI level security clearance.
• Experience with OS and container hardening following STIGs, CIS benchmarks, or PCI compliance.
• Experience developing and deploying infrastructure in AWS.
• Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines in tools such as GitLab CI, Travis CI, or Jenkins.
• Familiarity with agile software development methods and standard software development tool suites like JIRA, Confluence, GitHub, or GitLab.
• Prior experience with DISA's Big Data Platform or similar systems such as Cloudera CDH, MapR Hadoop, Databricks, or Apache Spark.
• Compliance with DoD 8140 / 8570 IAT Level II certification standards as directed by the customer.
