Database Engineer 3
Job description
About the role
The professional in this role owns the technical execution of complex database solutions from initial analysis through final implementation and optimization. You will provide deep technical expertise for database design, development, implementation, information storage and retrieval, data flow and analysis within demanding operational environments. The position requires the ability to develop robust relational and/or Object-Oriented databases, including specialized database parser software and database loading software to meet strict architectural standards. You will project long-range requirements for database administration and design, ensuring that data strategies align with evolving system objectives and enterprise needs. A core responsibility involves developing a database structure that fits seamlessly into the overall architecture of the system under development, making informed trades among data volumes, number of users, logical and physical distribution, response times, retention rules, security and domain controls. The role works primarily at the front end of the lifecycle, driving activities from requirements gathering through system acceptance testing and Initial Operational Capability (IOC), ensuring database foundations are solid from the outset. You will develop requirements from project inception to conclusion for a specific IT subject matter area, acting as the authoritative voice for data architecture throughout the entire project duration.
