About the role

In this role, you own the full lifecycle of complex electronic hardware and software processing components, ensuring subsystems that support RF communication and collection systems meet stringent mission critical standards. You own the design, development, construction, and test of FPGA hardware and associated software, driving technical decisions from initial concept through final delivery. You own the implementation of digital signal processing algorithms directly in FPGA hardware, translating abstract requirements into robust, high-performance RTL code. You own the integration of these hardware components with existing Linux-based software stacks, ensuring seamless operation across the hardware to software boundary. You own the creation of detailed technical documentation that captures design rationale, interfaces, and verification strategies for future engineering efforts. You own the bridging of FPGA to software connections, ensuring data flows correctly and efficiently between the hardware and processing layers. You own leadership of technical design efforts, providing direction and mentorship while ensuring all work aligns with federal contract requirements and project objectives.

What you'll do
Architect and develop high-performance FPGA logic using RTL design methodologies to implement digital signal processing functions for RF systems.
Implement and optimize DSP algorithms in FPGA hardware, focusing on timing closure, resource optimization, and meeting strict real-time processing requirements.
Integrate FPGA subsystems with existing Linux code bases, ensuring proper driver support, memory mapping, and system-level software compatibility.
Design and execute verification strategies, including testbenches and simulations, to validate hardware functionality before deployment.
Develop integration code that bridges the FPGA hardware to the software stack, enabling efficient data transfer and control across the entire system.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate mission requirements into technical specifications that guide the hardware and software design.
Document design decisions, interfaces, and test results to create sustainable knowledge artifacts for long-term maintenance and future development.
Lead technical design reviews and provide expert guidance to ensure solutions meet federal contract requirements and performance objectives.
Optimize system-level performance by analyzing data paths, latency, and throughput to achieve efficient utilization of FPGA resources.
Support the development and execution of test plans that verify the subsystem meets all operational, environmental, and security criteria.
Requirements
United States Citizenship is required for this position due to federal contract eligibility.
You must possess an active Top Secret/Secret security clearance with a polygraph, or be able to obtain one as a condition of employment.
You must have a demonstrated history of working with FPGA development, including synthesis, place and route, and timing closure activities.
You must have hands-on experience implementing digital signal processing algorithms in hardware description languages such as VHDL or Verilog.
You must have strong software integration skills, specifically with Linux-based environments and system-level software components.
You must be able to bridge complex connections between FPGA hardware and software stacks, ensuring robust and reliable data flow.
You must have the ability to lead technical design efforts and communicate effectively with both technical and government stakeholders.
You must be capable of documenting intricate hardware and software interactions to support long-term system maintenance.
Nice to have
Experience with RF communication and collection systems is highly valued.
Familiarity with mission critical applications and the operational tempo of government environments is preferred.
Practical notes
This is a full-time position based at the Annapolis Junction, Maryland location.
Travel to client sites may be required as part of project responsibilities.
