About the role
Workato is seeking a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to join the Global Core Infrastructure team. In this capacity, you will be responsible for designing, scaling, and securing the cloud-native platform that underpins automation and AI services for a diverse base of enterprise clients. The role requires deep collaboration with AI and iPaaS engineering groups to ensure platform initiatives are executed with reliability and performance at the forefront. You will modify and optimize open-source components to align with strict security and scalability standards across global deployments. This position is integral to maintaining resilient, distributed infrastructure that supports high-availability requirements. You will engage in continuous system reliability analysis and architecture reviews to drive operational excellence. The successful candidate will create internal tools that automate complex operational workflows and reduce manual overhead. You will perform incident response activities and contribute to the long-term strategic direction of the infrastructure stack.

What you'll do
- Architect and maintain a resilient, distributed cloud infrastructure that scales with demand.
- Partner with AI and iPaaS engineering teams to execute platform initiatives and deliver strategic capabilities.
- Modify and optimize open-source components to meet rigorous performance and security benchmarks.
- Provision and manage AWS environments using infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform.
- Develop and manage Kubernetes manifests to ensure reliable deployment of production workloads.
- Enhance CI/CD pipelines to enforce security controls and improve delivery efficiency of software components.
- Perform Linux system tuning and hardening to optimize performance and reduce attack surfaces.
- Create internal tools that automate operational workflows and improve team productivity.
- Engage in incident response activities and post-mortem analysis to identify root causes.
- Participate in architecture reviews to assess long-term technical feasibility and scalability.
- Conduct system reliability analysis to ensure infrastructure meets stringent uptime requirements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business needs into technical infrastructure solutions.
- Monitor infrastructure health and performance metrics to proactively address potential failures.
- Contribute to knowledge sharing and documentation to support team continuity and growth.
Requirements
- Bring 7+ years of experience in systems or infrastructure engineering to the role.
- Demonstrate deep knowledge of cloud-native architectures and the principles of distributed systems.
- Show expertise in Linux internals, including system-level performance tuning, networking, and kernel parameters.
- Provide evidence of managing AWS infrastructure at scale in production environments.
- Exhibit proficiency with Kubernetes cluster operations and the use of Terraform for provisioning.
- Display a strong understanding of cloud security principles and network security frameworks.
- Present hands-on experience with CI/CD automation tools and pipeline implementation.
- Have a history of working with infrastructure monitoring and logging practices.
- Show ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative engineering team.
- Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and the capacity to debug complex system issues.
- Have effective communication skills to interact with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Show commitment to following best practices for infrastructure management and version control.
- Have the legal right to work in the United States without sponsorship for this role.
Nice to have
- Show proficiency in Golang for the development of internal services and operational tooling.
- Bring a background in building cross-cloud AI infrastructure and related platform services.
- Demonstrate familiarity with databases and messaging systems such as PostgreSQL, Redis, Kafka, or ClickHouse.
- Have experience with observability stacks including Prometheus, Grafana, or VictoriaMetrics for monitoring.
- Show knowledge of secrets management systems such as Vault for secure credential handling.
- Have a history of maintaining or contributing to open-source projects relevant to infrastructure and tooling.
