About the role
Workato is seeking a technical leader to design and manage cloud infrastructure automation that supports our internal Product, Engineering, and Customer Success teams. You will own the full lifecycle of complex automation projects, ensuring our systems remain scalable, secure, and efficient. In this capacity, you will drive the delivery of high-impact automation initiatives that remove manual toil and standardize best practices. You will act as the central technical authority for infrastructure operations, translating business needs into robust technical solutions. The role requires deep collaboration with cross-functional partners to align automation strategy with organizational objectives. You will foster a culture of automation excellence by mentoring peers and elevating the quality of engineering deliverables. This position is critical for building the foundational platforms that accelerate product delivery and operational reliability.

What you'll do
- Lead end-to-end cloud infrastructure automation projects from initial architecture to final delivery, coordinating requirements and execution.
- Build and maintain tools that enable internal teams to create connectors, build proofs of concept, and manage cloud resources with minimal friction.
- Design multi-system integrations and event-driven workflows that deliver enterprise-grade automation and operational resilience.
- Provision cloud accounts and manage CI/CD pipelines while enforcing security standards and compliance requirements consistently.
- Partner with stakeholders across business and engineering departments to define technical requirements and manage project trade-offs effectively.
- Mentor peer engineers through design reviews and hands-on coaching to improve team standards and automation maturity.
- Evaluate new technologies and platform features to identify opportunities for improving infrastructure operations and developer experience.
- Collaborate with product and operations teams to translate business challenges into scalable infrastructure automation solutions.
- Implement monitoring and observability practices to ensure deployed automation remains reliable and performant over time.
- Drive the creation of reusable patterns and frameworks that accelerate future automation initiatives across the organization.
- Conduct technical discovery sessions to uncover inefficiencies and propose automation strategies that reduce manual intervention.
- Facilitate workshops and documentation sessions to ensure clear alignment between technical designs and business outcomes.
Requirements
- 7+ years of professional experience in cloud infrastructure and end-to-end automation, demonstrating consistent delivery in complex environments.
- Proven ability to manage project lifecycles including scoping, architecture, design reviews, and production deployment with strong ownership.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation, with real-world implementation history.
- Strong knowledge of cloud architecture, networking, and security principles across AWS, Azure, or GCP, with evidence of practical deployment.
- Hands-on experience with iPaaS, workflow automation, or low-code/no-code platforms, showing success in integrating systems at scale.
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both engineering and executive audiences, adjusting language and detail appropriately.
- Proficiency in creating technical documentation for architectures, operational processes, and automation components that remain current and useful.
- Commitment to operating with transparency, collaborating openly, and adhering to deadlines and quality standards in all engagements.

- Advanced proficiency or certification in the Workato platform, demonstrating deep familiarity with its capabilities and execution model.
- Experience with process orchestration involving enterprise systems like SAP, Oracle, Dynamics, Workday, NetSuite, or Salesforce, with successful integrations.
- Cloud certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect or Azure Solutions Architect that validate specialized technical expertise.
- Familiarity with SOLID, DRY, and KISS design patterns, applying them to infrastructure and integration designs where appropriate.
- Background in security automation, policy-as-code, and cloud governance, showing measurable improvements in control and compliance.
