What you'll do
- Design and implement comprehensive training programs tailored to the individual needs of student-athletes, focusing on skill development, physical conditioning, and mental preparation.
- Analyze player performance data to identify strengths and areas for improvement, utilizing modern analytics tools to inform coaching strategies.
- Collaborate with the head coach and other staff members to develop game strategies and practice plans that align with the team's overall goals.
- Mentor student-athletes in areas such as sportsmanship, teamwork, and leadership, fostering a culture of respect and accountability within the program.
- Organize and conduct individual and group training sessions, ensuring that all athletes receive personalized attention and guidance.
- Assist in the recruitment process by evaluating potential student-athletes, attending showcases, and maintaining relationships with high school coaches and athletic programs.
- Coordinate team travel logistics, including transportation, accommodations, and meal arrangements for away games and tournaments.
- Maintain compliance with NCAA regulations and institutional policies, ensuring that all activities align with the university's mission and values.
- Develop and manage the baseball program's budget, including equipment purchases, travel expenses, and facility maintenance.
- Foster relationships with alumni and community members to enhance support for the baseball program, including fundraising initiatives and outreach events.
- Conduct regular assessments of player development programs and make recommendations for improvements based on feedback and performance outcomes.
- Serve as a liaison between the baseball program and academic advisors to ensure student-athletes maintain their academic eligibility and succeed in their studies.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Sports Management, Physical Education, or a related field.
- Minimum of three years of coaching experience at the collegiate or high school level, preferably in baseball.
- Strong understanding of baseball fundamentals, strategies, and player development techniques.
- Proven ability to analyze performance data and utilize analytics to inform coaching decisions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to build rapport with student-athletes, coaches, and staff.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations, with a commitment to compliance and ethical standards in collegiate athletics.
Nice to have
- Master's degree in a related field is preferred.
- Experience with video analysis software and other technology used in player development.
- Previous experience in a recruiting role, with a track record of successfully identifying and attracting talent.
- Familiarity with fundraising and community engagement initiatives within a collegiate athletic program.
Skills & tools
The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership and motivational skills, with a focus on developing student-athletes both on and off the field. Proficiency in using performance analysis software, video editing tools, and other technology relevant to baseball training and development is essential. Practical notes
This position is temporary, and the successful candidate will be expected to commit to the duration of the baseball season. The role may require evening and weekend hours, particularly during games and practices. The salary for this position will be competitive and commensurate with experience.
