About the role
In this role, you will own the linguistic and cultural quality of multimedia content for Dutch-speaking audiences as part of the Welocalize global ecosystem. You act as a cultural advisor for the Dutch market, shaping how music, applications, and entertainment are adapted to meet local expectations. Your work ensures that content is not only linguistically accurate but also culturally resonant and appropriate for the target audience. You will review, adapt, and refine content across multiple media formats while collaborating with global teams to maintain consistent quality. This position requires strong attention to detail and the ability to make confident, well-reasoned decisions independently. You will contribute directly to the integrity and clarity of Welocalize's multilingual content pipeline.

What you'll do
Localize, translate, and adapt content across various categories including multimedia, legal, technical, and marketing materials while strictly following established style guides and guidelines.
Create original copy for a diverse range of multimedia products such as music, television, app store applications, video-on-demand platforms, and gaming subscription services.
Perform thorough linguistic reviews of both your own work and content generated by other localization team members across all content types.
Copy-edit and fact-check content to verify accuracy, clarity, and consistency in messaging and terminology.
Conduct Localization QA testing on live platform content, including music metadata, app descriptions, marketing materials, and campaign assets.
Carry out market-specific research on how local content is treated, emerging product terminology trends, and best practices in localization for the Dutch audience.
Transcribe spoken content, such as song lyrics, ensuring that phonetic and contextual meaning is preserved.
Manage and report on data and assets across a broad spectrum of media and content types to support project tracking and quality.
Review linguistic assessments and develop training materials and documentation for new projects to ensure team members understand terminology, style, and best practices.
Collaborate with global language teams to align on standardized terminology and stylistic choices, sharing market-specific insights to improve translation outcomes.
Support the development of culturally relevant content strategies that reflect the preferences and expectations of Dutch-speaking users.
Monitor content performance and provide feedback for continuous improvement of localization quality and user experience.
Assist in maintaining the integrity of brand voice and messaging across all multimedia channels for Dutch markets.
Identify potential cultural or contextual issues early in the content lifecycle and propose actionable recommendations to mitigate risk.
Participate in cross-functional discussions to influence localization standards and contribute to process optimization.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends in music, television, cinema, gaming, and broader pop culture relevant to localization.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 2 years of professional experience in translation, journalism, copywriting, or copyediting, with a strong portfolio of writing samples in media-related content such as music, TV, and applications.
Native-level fluency and excellent writing skills in Dutch.
Proven experience in translation and localization of multimedia content.
Strong ability to identify issues and inconsistencies within large volumes of content and make well-reasoned decisions based on available information.
Broad knowledge and genuine interest in music, television, cinema, gaming, and pop culture.
Ability to take ownership of the assigned language market and make confident linguistic decisions without constant supervision.
Exceptional attention to detail, with the ability to multitask, prioritize effectively, and meet strict deadlines.
Fluency in written and spoken English.
Strong computer literacy; familiarity with iOS and macOS systems is a plus.
Proficient typing skills in native-level language using a local (English) keyboard.
Ability to work independently in a remote environment while maintaining high productivity and communication standards.
Strong team player with the ability to collaborate effectively in a multicultural environment and contribute to a positive team dynamic.

Willingness to adhere to project schedules and support agile delivery practices within a fast-paced localization environment.

Employment Type: W-2 Employee
Pay Rate: $28-$32 per hour
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM, 35 hours per week
