What you'll do
- Design and manage the data intake routines necessary to ensure transaction information is captured cleanly before it flows into the primary reporting systems.
- Construct detailed forecasts and budgets, documenting every underlying assumption meticulously to ensure traceability and audit readiness.
- Review general ledger activity to explain financial variances, packaging these insights into clear narratives for executive stakeholders.
- Coordinate directly with the Accounting team to validate the close procedures and confirm the consistency of balances across all financial systems.
- Develop scenario models that test the financial impact of strategic decisions on margins, cash flow, and future hiring plans.
- Maintain and govern metric definitions to guarantee that all reports align strictly with company policies and standardized calculation logic.
- Establish structured review checkpoints where business partners must validate their inputs before reports are finalized and distributed.
- Compile concise board packs that highlight key performance drivers, associated risks, and the specific actions required from leadership.
- Build strong partnerships with product leaders to ensure that financial forecasts accurately reflect current market conditions and upcoming product roadmap changes.
- Support external reporting initiatives by coordinating data requests from auditors and regulators and confirming that all compliance elements are satisfied.
- Own specific elements of the annual planning process, ensuring that the data reflects the most current business realities and strategic priorities.
- Act as the primary liaison between the Finance and Accounting departments, ensuring that data flows seamlessly and discrepancies are resolved efficiently.
- Challenge existing processes proactively, identifying areas where automation or improved methodologies can enhance the accuracy and efficiency of financial reporting.
- Translate complex financial jargon into clear language that enables non-financial leaders to understand the implications of their decisions on the bottom line.
- Monitor the health of key business metrics on a recurring basis, alerting leadership to any trends that require immediate attention or intervention.
Requirements
To be eligible for this role, you must meet the following hard requirements without exception.
- You must hold three years of professional experience specifically in planning, analysis, or a closely related finance role.
- You must demonstrate a thorough understanding of general ledger structures and the mechanics of the period-end closing process.
- You must possess advanced proficiency with spreadsheet software, capable of managing complex calculations and very large datasets without error.
- You must have a solid grasp of the flow of transactions from the initial journal entry through to the finalization of financial statements.
- You must be eligible to work in the United States for the stated position, with no current immigration sponsorship required for this role.
- You must have a fundamental grounding in finance or accounting, providing the necessary foundation to interpret financial data accurately.
- You must be highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- You must have strong analytical skills, enabling you to dissect problems, identify root causes, and propose logical solutions.
