About the role
You will own the end to end advisory engagement with enterprise customers, translating their sustainability ambitions into clear, actionable strategies that align with regulatory realities and market expectations. You will act as a trusted advisor to some of the world's largest brands, guiding them through target setting, decarbonization planning, and impact measurement so their climate actions are both credible and effective. You will leverage deep expertise in climate frameworks to shape how Watershed products address real world sustainability challenges across diverse sectors and geographies. You will collaborate closely with product and go to market teams to ensure customer insights directly inform product evolution and market positioning. You will build and maintain strong relationships at the C suite level, earning trust by demonstrating strategic thinking and rigorous analysis under tight timelines. You will translate complex sustainability data into compelling narratives that drive executive decision making and accelerate program adoption. You will represent Watershed in key industry conversations, reinforcing the company's position at the forefront of enterprise climate action. This role requires a high degree of ownership, intellectual curiosity, and comfort navigating ambiguity in a fast scaling environment.

What you'll do
- Lead strategic sustainability advisory programs for marquee global customers, defining workstreams that address target setting, decarbonization pathways, and environmental impact management.
- Partner with corporate leaders to co create sustainability roadmaps that balance ambition with operational feasibility and regulatory compliance.
- Interpret emerging climate regulations and sustainability frameworks, then translate these developments into practical guidance for internal product teams and external customers.
- Drive adoption of Watershed's platform by aligning customer data realities with best in class reporting standards such as CSRD, CCDAA, ASRS, TCFD, CDP, and GHGP.
- Conduct deep dives into scope 1, scope 2, and scope 3 emissions, designing measurement approaches that integrate supply chain, procurement, and operations data.
- Act as a subject matter expert on decarbonization levers, working closely with procurement and operations teams to identify high impact reduction opportunities.
- Build sustainability intelligence by monitoring industry trends, policy shifts, and market signals, then synthesizing findings into actionable insights for client engagements.
- Prototype new advisory methodologies and product features that turn sustainability needs in emerging industries into scalable solutions.
- Facilitate cross functional workshops that align product, sales, and customer success teams around customer needs and desired outcomes.
- Develop compelling narratives and data driven recommendations that resonate with both technical and C suite stakeholders.
- Represent Watershed in client meetings and strategic discussions, serving as the primary point of contact for sustainability strategy questions.
- Contribute to internal thought leadership by documenting case studies, playbooks, and frameworks that elevate the quality of advisory work.
- Identify gaps in existing product capabilities and collaborate with teams to design solutions that close these gaps for sustainability leaders.
- Support the creation of tools and assets that help customers track progress, validate assumptions, and communicate impact to regulators and investors.
Requirements
- Hold a minimum of 8 years of professional experience, including at least 2 years in a consulting firm focused on client facing advisory work and at least 4 years in sustainability, with these periods able to overlap.
- Demonstrate deep expertise in corporate decarbonization and fluency with core climate frameworks including GHGP, PCAF, SBTi, ISO, and key reporting frameworks such as CSRD, CCDAA, ASRS, TCFD, and CDP.
- Think clearly about complex, multidimensional problems, and apply systematic, detail oriented analysis while remaining comfortable with data intensity and quantitative reasoning.
- Communicate effectively in verbal and written formats, presenting sophisticated analyses and recommendations to C suite audiences and engaging both technical and non technical stakeholders.
- Thrive in fast paced, dynamic environments where priorities shift and ambiguity is common, while maintaining ownership of deliverables and timelines.
- Excel at influencing decision makers across organizational levels, managing multiple internal and external stakeholders, and driving strategic initiatives to successful completion.

- Be willing to work from an office 4 days per week, as Watershed maintains hub offices in specific locations and expects in office collaboration on designated days.
Nice to have
- Bring direct experience working within sustainability adjacent corporate functions such as procurement, where supply chain and sourcing decisions are central.
- Have hands on experience decarbonizing physical supply chains and managing related transformation initiatives.
- Have previous experience in a SaaS climate tech environment, understanding how software products support enterprise sustainability programs.
- Hold an advanced degree in sustainability, climate science, environmental engineering, or a related technical field that deepens domain expertise.
- Be fluent in multiple languages such as English, Spanish, French, or German, enabling more effective collaboration with global stakeholders.
Practical notes
Must be willing to work from an office 4 days per week (except for remote roles). Watershed has hub offices in San Francisco, New York, London, and Mexico City and satellite offices in Denver, Sydney, Paris, and Berlin. Where we have offices, employees are expected to be in office for 4 days per week.
