Key facts
What you'll do
You will architect, design, and lead the development of scalable, high-performance systems utilizing event-driven architectures such as Apache Kafka, Airflow, and Flink to meet complex business demands. You will champion industry best practices in system design, code quality, continuous integration and delivery pipelines, and comprehensive observability using tools like DataDog and Kibana to ensure operational excellence. You will own the end-to-end delivery of mission-critical healthcare products, guiding projects from initial concept through successful deployment and maintenance. This includes designing and implementing real-time data pipelines capable of processing millions of records per second with minimal latency using event-streaming and ETL technologies. You will build and optimize batch and streaming hybrid architectures by leveraging powerful frameworks such as Kafka Streams, Flink, and Spark Streaming for maximum efficiency. You will be responsible for healthcare data integration at scale, handling the ingestion, transformation, and serving of critical clinical document standards including FHIR, CCDA, HL7 V2/V3, and DICOM. You will engineer robust microservices and customer-facing applications that are API-driven, highly resilient, and maintain strict versioning and backward compatibility to ensure seamless user experiences. You will continuously optimize system performance by reducing API latency and error rates through strategic distributed caching, code refactoring, and infrastructure enhancements. You will design and implement fault-tolerant, cloud-native solutions on platforms like AWS and Kubernetes with a strong focus on resilience, cost efficiency, and scalability for future growth. You will lead complex migration and modernization efforts, such as legacy system rewrites and data lake or warehouse implementations, ensuring zero disruption and seamless transitions for customers. You will partner closely with product managers and stakeholders to accurately translate intricate business requirements into viable technical solutions while advocating for sustainable and innovative approaches. You will drive research and development initiatives to successfully prototype and validate new technologies, including potential AI and machine learning integrations and advanced real-time analytics capabilities. You will clearly communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and team members, fostering alignment and consensus across all departments and organizational levels.
Your experience and qualifications
You hold a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a closely related technical field, with an advanced degree being strongly preferred for this senior position. You bring 5 to 7 years of hands-on professional experience as a software engineer, demonstrating consistent growth and impact in your previous roles. You possess proven proficiency in Python and Java, along with substantial experience working with modern frameworks such as Flask, FastAPI, Spring Boot, or similar technologies. You have mastery of event-driven architecture principles and practical experience with tools like Kafka, Kinesis, and distributed systems deployed on cloud platforms such as AWS and Kubernetes. You have a strong background in designing, building, and maintaining scalable, real-time data pipelines using technologies like Kafka, Flink, and Airflow, as well as complex hybrid batch and streaming systems. You have hands-on experience integrating and processing stringent healthcare data standards, including but not limited to FHIR, CCDA, HL7 V2, HL7 V3, and DICOM, within high-volume environments. You are skilled in database design and management across both SQL and NoSQL databases, including experience with DynamoDB, and you have worked with large-scale data warehousing solutions such as Redshift, BigQuery, and Snowflake. You have a demonstrated history of optimizing critical performance metrics, specifically API latency and error rates, while actively reducing infrastructure costs through efficient AWS resource management. You possess exceptional communication, problem-solving, and collaboration skills, allowing you to navigate significant ambiguity and drive consensus among diverse stakeholders. You are a self-motivated individual who thrives in dynamic, fast-paced settings and can manage multiple priorities without sacrificing attention to detail or quality.
Preferred Qualifications
You have direct experience working within healthcare technology or other highly regulated industries, such as Medicare, Medicaid, or complex payor systems, and understand the unique challenges these sectors present. You have worked with real-time analytics platforms, AI, or machine learning integration projects, applying these technologies to solve difficult real-world problems. You have a track record of innovation specifically within real-time reporting systems or streaming data products that have positively impacted business outcomes. You are familiar with healthcare security and compliance frameworks, including HIPAA and HITRUST, and understand the importance of maintaining rigorous standards.
