As a Senior Materials Analysis Engineer specializing in Testing & Characterization, you will serve as a key authority on laboratory testing methodologies that support the fabrication of NdFeB permanent magnets. Your role will involve ensuring the precision and reliability of both analytical and mechanical testing protocols, assisting in the interpretation of data for various internal stakeholders, and maintaining rigorous standards for material traceability and documentation. This position is hands-on and requires a robust background in materials testing, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to thrive in a controlled manufacturing environment.

What you'll do
- Serve as the lead expert in diverse laboratory testing methods, ensuring both technical accuracy and reliable execution of tests.
- Evaluate and validate the suitability and precision of testing methods for their intended applications, conducting regular reviews and revalidations as necessary.
- Provide support for data analysis and offer technical guidance to internal teams involved in process, quality, and engineering functions.
- Develop, implement, and refine testing procedures to meet evolving production and quality requirements.
- Work within a controlled environment to ensure material traceability, manage sample chain of custody, and maintain documentation that complies with quality system standards.
- Identify and troubleshoot instrument performance issues, overseeing preventive maintenance, calibration, and service activities.
- Collaborate with materials, process, and data engineers to integrate testing data into broader manufacturing and quality assurance processes.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and regulatory standards while working with laboratory equipment and materials.
Requirements
- A Bachelor's degree or higher in Materials Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, accompanied by a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
- Hands-on experience in materials testing and characterization, preferably within a commercial or industrial context.
- Familiarity with test method development, validation, and documentation practices.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple testing projects concurrently, and ensure the reliability of instruments and quality of methods.
- Must be a U.S. Person due to the necessity of accessing U.S. export-controlled information or facilities.
Nice to have
- Knowledge of techniques such as X-ray diffraction (XRD), particle size analysis, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), or differential scanning calorimetry (DSC).
- Experience with complementary characterization methods like SEM/EDS, optical microscopy, or mechanical testing (tensile, hardness, density).
- Familiarity with quality management systems such as ISO 17025, AS9100, or similar frameworks.
- Understanding of laboratory information management systems (LIMS) or structured data workflows.
- Proficiency in statistical methods for method validation, measurement uncertainty, or process control.
- Experience working in settings where throughput, repeatability, and data integrity are of utmost importance.
