Senior iOS Engineer, SDK (Remote
Job description
Senior iOS Engineer, SDK at Verve.
About the role
This role owns and leads the iOS SDK across its full lifecycle while coordinating with cross-functional teams. The position drives technical decisions for the mobile platform and may mentor other engineers over time. This is a contract role open to remote work within the United States or outside it, with collaboration expected during US business hours.
Software engineers turn product ideas into working code. Engineers work in small teams, review each other's work, and ship in small batches. Most teams follow agile practices such as sprints and daily standups. Engineers also write tests, fix bugs, and improve performance. The field values clear communication as much as technical skill. Engineers spend part of every week on planning, code review, and debugging, not just writing new code. The ability to explain a technical decision in plain words separates strong engineers from the rest.
Key facts

Architecting and delivering the iOS SDK from design through release and support to serve hundreds of apps and millions of devices.
Distributing the SDK through SPM and CocoaPods, with versioning and release scheduling that enables partner integrations.
Aligning Android, server, and data efforts on cross-platform features and shared code to ensure consistent behavior.
Maintaining the Unity plugin and shared JavaScript codebase so that omnichannel audience delivery remains robust.
Setting technical direction and tooling choices, with autonomy to select approaches that best serve the product and clients.
Requirements
Earning a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field as a foundational qualification.
Bringing 5+ years of professional iOS development experience to manage the full SDK lifecycle.
Demonstrating strong proficiency in Objective-C, Swift, TypeScript, and JavaScript for cross-platform work.
Developing, distributing, and maintaining SDKs via SPM and CocoaPods as a core capability.
Showing familiarity with cross-platform development, Unity plugin development, and/or Android as a complementary skill.
Maintaining a track record of independently owning a product or feature area and driving it forward.
Exercising excellent communication and collaboration skills while working with product, business development, QA, and partners.
Practical notes
The position is offered as a contract with hourly compensation and remote flexibility across US regions or internationally, aligned with US business-hour collaboration. Typical interview steps
Hiring for engineering roles usually starts with a recruiter screen, followed by one or two technical rounds. Candidates often solve a coding problem, discuss past projects, and answer system design questions. Some loops include a take-home task. Final rounds typically cover team fit and give candidates a chance to ask questions. Interviewers look for how you break down an unfamiliar problem, not just whether you reach the answer. Practicing a few problems aloud and reviewing your own past projects are the best preparation.
Good to know
Ownership and clear communication are central to succeeding in this role. The position relies on strong iOS, cross-platform, and SDK skills to support high-profile advertisers and publishers. General SDK development involves architecture decisions, release management, and ongoing support in a production environment.
Career growth
Engineering careers usually progress from individual contributor to senior, staff, and principal levels. Some engineers move into management and lead teams of five to twenty people. Others stay on the technical track. Growth follows demonstrated impact, not tenure alone. A typical engineering ladder has clear levels with defined expectations for scope, quality, and mentorship. Moving up usually requires owning outcomes end to end rather than completing assigned tickets.
