Verve is building the next generation of advertising technology through a unified ecosystem of data, media, and technology that serves both advertisers and publishers with unprecedented efficiency and privacy. The Android SDK Engineer will own the implementation and scaling of Verve's Android HyBid SDK, turning high-level architectural initiatives into robust, production-ready modules that run reliably across millions of end-user devices. This role focuses on low-level library and SDK development where memory management, threading, and performance constraints are critical to success. You will work on the intersection of complex Android systems and strict privacy regulations, ensuring seamless integration inside a wide variety of external host applications. The position requires a deep understanding of the differences between SDK development and standard app development to deliver stable and efficient solutions. You will be responsible for architecting, refining, and maintaining the core components that power Verve's monetization and demand solutions globally.

What you'll do
- Architect and develop core submodules of the Android HyBid SDK, ensuring safe multi-threaded execution, minimal memory footprint, and binary-size efficiency while maintaining backward compatibility and crash-free integration into diverse host applications.
- Partner with product managers and business stakeholders to estimate feature effort, refine technical requirements, and prioritize delivery from sprint-level scope to strategic SDK roadmaps driven by technical feasibility and measurable business impact.
- Collaborate closely with the iOS team by reading and navigating the Swift and Objective-C codebases to cross-reference logic, guarantee behavioral consistency, and keep release scopes synchronized across platforms.
- Lead technical refinement sessions, code reviews, and documentation processes, setting core standards for binary-size budgets, backward-compatibility validation, and long-term maintainability as the SDK evolves.
- Implement and test integration layers for Google's Android Privacy Sandbox technologies, including the Topics API and SDK Runtime modules, while ensuring compliance with user-consent data pipelines such as GDPR and TCF 2.2.
- Design, build, and refine a custom embedded crash-logging and exception-dump mechanism that provides lightweight, non-intrusive runtime fault capture with safe local persistence and secure delivery.
- Develop, test, and optimize high-priority mediation adapters, with a strong focus on the AppLovin MAX integration pathway and programmatic viewability tracking using the embedded IAB Open Measurement SDK.
- Maintain and evolve continuous integration pipelines, migrating testing matrices to cloud-hosted test environments like BrowserStack and Sauce Labs while consolidating build and release workflows from CircleCI to GitHub Actions.
- Translate strict privacy regulations and business requirements into high-performance SDK code, ensuring that structural design decisions support compliance without sacrificing reliability or user experience.
- Mentor mid-level engineers by providing technical guidance, conducting code reviews, and establishing best practices that ensure consistent quality across the SDK lifecycle.
Requirements
- Demonstrate strong competency in Kotlin and Java, with a clear understanding of multi-threaded code execution, network-layer communication, and efficient data handling in memory-constrained environments.
- Bring hands-on experience with Android SDK development, including a solid grasp of library integration, dependency management, and lifecycle-aware component design within third-party host applications.
- Show proven ability to read and navigate foreign codebases, such as iOS implementations in Swift and Objective-C, to enable effective cross-platform collaboration and parity.
- Exhibit meticulous attention to binary-size budgets, crash-free integration standards, and backward compatibility across a wide range of Android devices and OS versions.
- Highlight experience with privacy-focused technologies, including consent management frameworks, user-first data pipelines, and integration with standards such as GDPR and the IAB Transparency and Consent Framework.
- Illustrate familiarity with embedded telemetry, crash reporting, and non-intrusive logging mechanisms that operate safely within constrained and shared application environments.
- Display strong ownership of automation, testing strategies, and continuous integration workflows, including migration to cloud-based testing platforms and modern release pipelines.
- Communicate clearly and professionally while collaborating with cross-functional teams, including product managers, engineers, and stakeholders across global locations.
