What you'll do

• Conduct thorough assessments of our current cybersecurity measures and identify vulnerabilities that could be exploited by malicious actors.
• Develop and implement robust security protocols and policies to safeguard sensitive information and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Monitor network traffic and system logs for unusual activity, responding promptly to potential security incidents and breaches.
• Collaborate with IT teams to design and deploy security solutions that align with our business objectives and risk management strategies.
• Provide training and awareness programs for staff to promote a culture of cybersecurity and ensure everyone understands their role in protecting company assets.
• Stay updated on the latest cybersecurity trends, threats, and technologies to continuously improve our security practices.
• Conduct regular penetration testing and vulnerability assessments to evaluate the effectiveness of existing security measures.
• Prepare detailed reports on security incidents, findings, and recommendations for improvement to share with management and stakeholders.
• Assist in the development of disaster recovery and business continuity plans to ensure operational resilience in the event of a security breach.

• Participate in incident response activities, including investigation, containment, eradication, and recovery efforts.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
• A minimum of 3 years of experience in cybersecurity or information security roles.
• Strong understanding of network security protocols, firewalls, and intrusion detection/prevention systems.
• Proficiency in security assessment tools and techniques, including vulnerability scanning and penetration testing.
• Familiarity with regulatory frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001, and GDPR.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically under pressure.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively convey complex security concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CEH, or CompTIA Security+ are highly desirable.
• Experience with incident response and forensic analysis is a plus.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of cloud security practices and tools, particularly in AWS or Azure environments.
• Familiarity with programming languages such as Python, Java, or C++ for automation of security tasks.
• Experience with security information and event management (SIEM) solutions.
• Understanding of data encryption technologies and secure coding practices.
• Previous experience in a government or defense contracting environment is advantageous.

Skills & tools

The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in cybersecurity principles and practices, with hands-on experience using various security tools and technologies. Familiarity with firewalls, antivirus software, and intrusion detection systems is essential. Proficiency in scripting or programming languages will be beneficial for automating security processes.
