What you'll do

• Lead the design, development, and maintenance of scalable backend services that support Urbansportsclub's applications and user interfaces.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including frontend developers, product managers, and designers, to define and implement new features that enhance user engagement.
• Ensure the performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications by conducting thorough testing and debugging of backend systems.
• Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the team.
• Implement best practices for software development, including code reviews, version control, and documentation to ensure high-quality deliverables.
• Analyze system performance and optimize backend processes to improve efficiency and reduce latency.
• Participate in architectural discussions and contribute to the evolution of the technical stack, ensuring it meets the needs of the business and its users.
• Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends, integrating relevant advancements into the development process.
• Work closely with DevOps to streamline deployment processes and improve system reliability.
• Manage technical debt and ensure that the codebase remains clean and maintainable for future development.
• Engage with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications for backend solutions.
• Contribute to the development of APIs that facilitate seamless integration with third-party services and applications.

Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in backend development, with a strong focus on building scalable web applications.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, or Node.js, with a solid understanding of their frameworks and libraries.
• Experience with database management systems, including SQL and NoSQL databases, and knowledge of data modeling techniques.
• Familiarity with cloud services (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud, Azure) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
• Strong understanding of RESTful API design principles and experience in developing and consuming APIs.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience with Agile methodologies and familiarity with tools such as Jira or Trello for project management.
• A passion for fitness and a desire to contribute to a company that promotes a healthy lifestyle.

Nice to have

• Experience with microservices architecture and serverless computing.
