What you'll do

• Design and develop high-performance mobile applications for both iOS and Android platforms using modern frameworks and technologies.
• Collaborate with product managers and designers to translate user requirements into functional mobile features that enhance the overall user experience.
• Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code while adhering to best practices in software development and mobile architecture.
• Conduct thorough testing and debugging of mobile applications to ensure optimal performance and reliability across various devices and operating systems.
• Participate in code reviews to maintain code quality and share knowledge with team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
• Stay updated on the latest trends and advancements in mobile technology, integrating relevant innovations into Upstart's mobile offerings.
• Collaborate with backend engineers to design and implement APIs that support mobile application functionality, ensuring seamless integration with Upstart's services.
• Monitor application performance and user feedback, using analytics to drive improvements and feature enhancements.
• Contribute to the development of technical documentation and user guides to support internal teams and end-users.
• Engage in Agile development practices, participating in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives to ensure timely delivery of projects.
• Mentor junior developers, providing guidance and support to help them grow their skills and advance their careers.
• Work closely with the security team to ensure that mobile applications meet industry standards for security and data protection.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• A minimum of 3 years of experience in mobile application development for iOS and Android platforms.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Swift, Kotlin, or Java, with a strong understanding of mobile development frameworks.
• Experience with RESTful APIs and integrating third-party libraries and services into mobile applications.
• Familiarity with version control systems, particularly Git, and experience with CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Experience with cross-platform development frameworks such as React Native or Flutter.
• Knowledge of mobile application security best practices and experience implementing security measures.
• Familiarity with cloud services such as AWS or Google Cloud Platform, particularly in relation to mobile app deployment and scaling.
• Previous experience in the fintech industry or working on financial applications.
• Understanding of user experience (UX) design principles and the ability to collaborate effectively with design teams.
