Payment Solution Engineer
Job description
About the role
You will architect and execute integrations that connect Unlimit's platform directly to national financial rails under the supervision of central banks and local regulators. You will translate complex regulatory and technical requirements into robust implementation plans while coordinating closely with both business stakeholders and technical teams. You will act as the primary technical authority for every integration project, owning the design, configuration, testing, and deployment of payment solutions from initial kickoff through full production. You will configure and customize integration components to meet the specific needs of each market, ensuring that local rules, compliance standards, and operational expectations are met without compromise. You will diagnose and resolve intricate technical issues that arise during integration, applying deep system knowledge and analytical reasoning to keep projects on schedule. You will document every integration decision and configuration detail meticulously, creating clear artifacts that enable other teams to understand, maintain, and extend the solution. You will continuously evaluate new technologies and approaches, proposing improvements that increase reliability, performance, and developer experience for the solutions you build. You will serve as a trusted partner to both internal teams and external providers, aligning expectations and driving consensus around technical and commercial objectives.
Key facts
What you'll do
Orchestrate end to end delivery of payment integrations by coordinating requirements, technical design, configuration, and deployment activities across distributed teams.
Design and configure integration flows that connect Unlimit's platform to local clearing systems, central bank gateways, and third party BaaS providers while respecting regional constraints.
Lead technical negotiations with regulators and banking partners, articulating architectural choices and compliance measures in language that satisfies both technical and legal audiences.
Implement robust testing strategies that validate transaction flows, error handling, reconciliation processes, and security controls before solutions reach production environments.
Develop and maintain detailed technical documentation that captures integration logic, configuration parameters, and operational procedures for current and future engineers.
Monitor live integration health using logs, metrics, and alerts, then diagnose root causes of incidents to drive rapid resolution and prevent recurrence.
Collaborate closely with product managers to scope integration capabilities, balancing business ambitions with technical complexity and regulatory obligations.
Translate business requirements into precise technical specifications that clearly define interfaces, data formats, error conditions, and expected system behavior.
Partner with operations teams to define runbooks, escalation paths, and support procedures that ensure smooth day to day operation of payment solutions.
Champion continuous improvement by identifying bottlenecks in integration delivery and proposing process or tooling enhancements that increase efficiency and quality.
Engage directly with third party providers and banking partners to resolve technical issues, negotiate connectivity details, and align on future roadmap initiatives.
Evaluate emerging integration patterns and technologies, recommending adoption where they improve reliability, maintainability, or time to market for new markets.
Ensure that every integration adheres to Unlimit's security and compliance standards, embedding controls such as authentication, encryption, and auditability into technical designs.
Act as a hands on technical leader during implementation sprints, guiding configuration decisions, code reviews, and validation activities that determine project success.
