What you'll do

• Mentor and manage software engineers, conducting regular check-ins and supporting their professional development through structured growth plans.
• Partner with product and business stakeholders to dissect requirements and translate them into clear, actionable development plans with defined success metrics.
• Oversee delivery schedules, tracking progress against milestones to ensure high-quality software is shipped on time and meets business objectives.
• Lead the recruitment lifecycle, from sourcing diverse candidates to conducting interviews and designing robust onboarding experiences for new hires.
• Shape team culture by promoting collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement through feedback loops and retrospectives.
• Provide technical direction by facilitating architecture discussions and helping the team navigate complex architectural choices that impact scalability and maintainability.

Requirements

• 5+ years of software development experience, with a proven track record of writing clean, maintainable code in professional settings.
• 2+ years of experience in a team lead or management capacity, demonstrating the ability to influence without direct authority.
• Experience managing teams that build web applications, preferably using Elixir/Phoenix or comparable modern technology stacks that emphasize concurrency and fault tolerance.
• Strong grasp of Agile methodologies, CI/CD pipelines, testing strategies, and code review processes to ensure sustainable and high-quality delivery.
• Proficiency with modern AI development tools and a clear strategy for how they impact team performance, productivity, and future hiring decisions.
• Proven ability to build, retain, and develop engineering teams through coaching, feedback, and career pathing.
• Excellent communication skills for both technical and non-technical stakeholders, enabling clear articulation of goals, trade-offs, and progress.
• Experience managing delivery across multiple initiatives, balancing priorities, resources, and timelines effectively.
• Ability to make decisions in ambiguous environments, using data, intuition, and collaboration to move projects forward.

Practical notes

Compensation is based on On-Target Earnings, which includes base salary and target bonuses, adjusted for experience and location.
