Lead Software Engineer
Job description
About the role
At Theodo FinTech, you will own the technical delivery of digital products in the FinTech space, shaping architecture and code quality from inception to production. You will partner closely with product managers and clients to translate business needs into robust, scalable, and secure software solutions. Your leadership will drive the adoption of AI-native practices that accelerate delivery while maintaining zero-defect standards. You will be responsible for mentoring engineers, refining processes, and ensuring that every release meets both functional and non-functional requirements. You will contribute directly to strategic technical decisions that impact high-profile platforms used by millions. Together with your squad, you will define and enforce the engineering standards that make Theodo FinTech delivery exceptional.
What you'll do
Analyze complex FinTech requirements and translate them into clear technical specifications that guide development teams. Design and implement scalable, resilient, and secure architectures using modern patterns and industry best practices. Define and enforce quality standards through Clean Code principles, automated testing strategies, and rigorous code reviews. Lead technical design sessions and architecture reviews, ensuring alignment with business objectives and regulatory constraints. Act as a bridge between business stakeholders and development teams to clarify needs and validate solution approaches. Mentor software engineers, facilitate pair programming, and drive knowledge sharing across the squad. Establish and improve engineering processes using 5S methodology to optimize organization, clarity, and efficiency. Collaborate with product managers and clients during backlog refinement, planning, and ceremonies to ensure continuous satisfaction. Champion the adoption of AI tools and agents to accelerate development cycles and reduce manual effort. Monitor delivery metrics, identify bottlenecks, and implement corrective actions to improve flow and quality. Ensure that all technical decisions support long-term maintainability and fast time-to-market. Evaluate emerging technologies and frameworks, proposing experiments that de-risk future innovation. Lead post-mortem analyses to extract learnings and drive continuous improvement at the team level. Represent Theodo FinTech in technical discussions with stakeholders to build trust and credibility. Guide the team in building products that are sustainable, accessible, and aligned with societal impact goals.
Requirements
You have a proven track record as a software engineer with at least 8 years of hands-on development experience. You hold deep expertise in at least one modern programming language and are comfortable learning new technologies quickly. You have demonstrated ability to design and deliver complex software systems that meet strict quality and security standards. You understand software architecture patterns and can evaluate trade-offs between different technical approaches. You have experience leading engineering teams and mentoring junior and mid-level developers. You are comfortable working in an agile environment and facilitating iterative delivery cycles. You have a strong sense of ownership and accountability for the products you help build. You communicate clearly and can explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
What you'll do (expanded from source facts)
You will join a tech community of more than 350 Theodoers, including software engineers, tech leads, engineering managers, and architects, with whom you can exchange, learn, and progress daily. You will work in human-sized project teams of 4 to 5 people, comprising Software Engineers, Tech Leads, and Product Managers, collaborating closely with the client to share progress, deepen understanding of their problem, and evolve the product precisely according to user needs. As the technologies of Software Engineering evolve with AI, you will have the opportunity to learn to become an AI-native Tech Lead. You will accelerate the speed of development by deploying AI agents and leverage LLMs to boost individual and team productivity. You will establish a structured work environment based on the 5S methodology (organization, clarity, efficiency), implement continuous problem-solving loops through daily sessions, and ensure quality through Clean Code, automated testing, and code reviews. You will participate in project routines such as backlog refinement, daily stand-ups, and ceremonies to maintain continuous client satisfaction. You will analyze root causes of defects to improve team knowledge (Dantotsu), provide training and coaching through pair programming and code reviews, and help the team use LLMs effectively to increase performance.
