What you'll do

• Design and develop system architectures for advanced nuclear energy systems, ensuring alignment with project goals and regulatory requirements.
• Conduct detailed system analyses to evaluate performance, reliability, and safety, using industry-standard modeling tools and techniques.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical, electrical, and software engineers, to integrate various subsystems into a cohesive whole.
• Develop and maintain system documentation, including specifications, design reports, and testing protocols, to ensure clarity and compliance throughout the project lifecycle.
• Participate in risk assessments and failure mode effects analyses (FMEA) to identify potential issues and develop mitigation strategies.
• Support the testing and validation of systems through the development of test plans and execution of experiments, ensuring that all systems meet performance criteria.
• Engage with regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with safety standards and facilitate the approval process for new technologies.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, or a related field; a Master's degree is preferred.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in systems engineering, preferably within the energy or nuclear sectors.
• Strong understanding of systems engineering principles, including requirements management, system integration, and verification and validation processes.
• Proficiency in using modeling and simulation tools such as MATLAB, Simulink, or similar software for system analysis and design.
• Experience with regulatory compliance processes, particularly in the nuclear energy sector, is highly desirable.
• Excellent problem-solving skills with a proven ability to analyze complex systems and develop innovative solutions.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey technical information effectively to diverse audiences.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while also being self-motivated and capable of managing individual tasks.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with advanced nuclear reactor designs, such as small modular reactors (SMRs) or molten salt reactors.
• Experience with project management methodologies and tools, such as Agile or Lean, to enhance project efficiency.
• Knowledge of safety analysis techniques and tools used in the nuclear industry.
• Previous experience in a startup or innovative technology environment, demonstrating adaptability and creativity.

Skills & tools

• Proficient in systems engineering software and tools, including requirements management systems and simulation software.

• Knowledge of CAD software for system layout and design visualization.
