About the role
Taxbit is seeking a Senior Compliance Analyst to join its Madrid-based team and contribute to the growth of its cryptocurrency tax and compliance platform. The role centers on maintaining regulatory alignment across all company operations and ensuring that product development follows applicable legal frameworks. This professional will interpret changing laws and translate them into practical operational guidance for internal stakeholders across multiple departments. The analyst will also support audit preparation activities, monitor ongoing regulatory developments in the crypto and fintech space, and help strengthen the overall compliance posture of the organization as it expands into new markets and jurisdictions.

What you'll do
- Review and interpret cryptocurrency and financial regulations applicable to Taxbit's operations in Spain and the broader European Union.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive compliance documentation, policies, and procedures to meet evolving regulatory expectations and industry standards.
- Coordinate closely with product and engineering teams to ensure platform features align with data privacy and financial reporting standards.
- Conduct thorough internal risk assessments and identify gaps in current compliance controls, processes, and governance structures.
- Prepare detailed materials and provide support responses for external audits conducted by regulatory bodies or independent third-party reviewers.
- Monitor legislative and regulatory changes in the cryptocurrency and fintech sectors and recommend timely adjustments to internal policies.
- Collaborate with legal counsel to evaluate the compliance implications of new product launches, integrations, and strategic partnerships.
- Train and mentor junior staff members on compliance requirements and foster a strong culture of regulatory awareness across all departments.
- Analyze transaction data and reporting outputs to verify accuracy, completeness, and adherence to applicable tax and financial regulations.
- Represent the compliance function in cross-departmental meetings and contribute meaningfully to strategic decisions that affect regulatory risk exposure.
- Lead periodic compliance reviews and produce summary reports for senior leadership to inform decision-making and risk mitigation strategies.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in finance, law, business administration, or a related academic field is required for this position.
- A minimum of five years of professional experience in compliance, regulatory affairs, or a closely related discipline.
- Demonstrated knowledge of cryptocurrency regulations, anti-money laundering standards, know-your-customer requirements, and data protection laws is essential.
- Strong understanding of European Union regulatory frameworks, particularly those relevant to financial technology and digital asset companies.
- Prior experience working with Spanish or EU-based regulatory bodies or compliance teams provides a meaningful advantage.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English are required, with Spanish fluency being a strong plus.
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent priorities and consistently meet deadlines in a fast-paced, rapidly growing company environment.
- Proven track record of independently building, implementing, and maintaining compliance programs from initial conception through execution.
- Familiarity with international tax reporting standards and cross-border compliance obligations in the digital assets space is valued.
Nice to have
- Familiarity with Taxbit's product suite or prior experience working at a cryptocurrency or financial technology startup.
- Additional language skills beyond English and Spanish, such as French, Portuguese, or German, are considered beneficial.
- Experience with regulatory technology platforms, compliance automation tools, or governance, risk, and control software systems is a plus.
- Background in tax advisory or consulting, particularly in the digital assets, blockchain, or decentralized finance space.
- Any professional certifications such as CPA, CFA, or compliance-related credentials would strengthen an application for this role.

- Experience with ticketing and issue-tracking systems to manage compliance tasks and track remediation efforts over time.

- This is a full-time position based in Taxbit's Madrid office, with standard business hours expected of all team members.
- The role reports directly to the head of compliance or a senior legal leader within the organization.
