Solutions Engineer (Singapore)

About the role

Tailscale is seeking a founding Solutions Engineer in Singapore to drive sales success across the APAC region. This role involves partnering with sales teams to understand customer needs, design technical solutions, and build lasting customer relationships. You will be instrumental in establishing Tailscale's technical presence in the region.

Key facts

What you'll do

• Serve as the primary technical representative for Tailscale in the APAC market.
• Collaborate with Account Executives to identify, qualify, and close new business opportunities.
• Lead customer workshops, deliver product demonstrations, and manage technical proof-of-concepts.
• Contribute to product development by writing code, building integrations, and addressing technical challenges for key customers.
• Gather and communicate customer feedback and regional technical requirements to inform product and go-to-market strategies.
• Develop reusable technical assets such as demo environments and solution guides.
• Work with other customer-facing technical teams in Singapore to ensure a cohesive customer experience.

Requirements

• 4-5 years of experience in a customer-facing technical role such as Sales Engineer or Solutions Architect, with a focus on networking, security, or cloud software.
• Demonstrated ability to thrive in an early-stage, high-growth environment with a high degree of autonomy.
• Solid understanding of networking concepts including TCP/IP, DNS, routing, and firewalls.
• Knowledge of zero-trust networking principles, secure connectivity, and identity management integrations (SSO, SAML, OIDC).
• Hands-on experience with major cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Ability to clearly articulate technical concepts and their business impact to various stakeholders.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with global and regional teams.

Nice to have

• Experience with building and scaling technical functions in new geographic regions.
