As an Engineering Manager at Bamboohr, you will play a pivotal role in leading our engineering team to deliver high-quality software solutions. What you'll do

Lead and mentor a diverse team of engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
Oversee the entire software development lifecycle, from initial concept through to deployment and maintenance.
Collaborate with product managers and stakeholders to define project requirements and ensure alignment with business objectives.
Implement best practices in software engineering, including code reviews, testing, and documentation standards.
Manage project timelines and resources effectively, ensuring that deadlines are met without compromising quality.
Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to team members to support their professional growth.
Facilitate communication between engineering and other departments, such as marketing and sales, to ensure a cohesive approach to product development.
Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies to keep the team informed and competitive.
Identify and mitigate risks associated with engineering projects, proactively addressing potential issues before they escalate.
Promote a collaborative and inclusive work environment that encourages creativity and teamwork.
Drive the adoption of agile methodologies within the engineering team to enhance productivity and responsiveness to change.
Participate in recruitment efforts to attract top engineering talent to the company.

Requirements

A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
At least 5 years of experience in software development, with a minimum of 2 years in a leadership role.
Proven track record of managing successful software projects from inception to completion.
Strong understanding of software development methodologies, particularly agile practices.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make data-driven decisions.
Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Experience with programming languages such as Java, Python, or JavaScript, as well as familiarity with modern frameworks and tools.
Knowledge of cloud technologies and platforms, such as AWS or Azure, is highly desirable.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

Nice to have

Experience in the e-commerce industry or related fields.
Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools for continuous integration and deployment.
Previous experience in scaling engineering teams and processes in a growing organization.
Understanding of data analytics and how it can inform engineering decisions.
Proficiency in additional programming languages or technologies that complement our tech stack.

Skills & tools

Proficient in software development tools such as Git, JIRA, and CI/CD pipelines.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and metrics.
Familiarity with database management systems, both SQL and NoSQL.
Experience with front-end technologies like React or Angular is a plus.
Knowledge of security best practices in software development.
