You will be based primarily at the store located at 347 Post Rd, Westport, CT 06880, with potential consideration for opportunities in Greenwich, CT; Morristown, NJ; New Haven, CT; and New York, NY. If selected for this role, you will be considered for any of these locations, requiring adaptability across the metro footprint. The position is offered as full-time employment with an annual base compensation of $100,000, structured to reward ownership and execution. The role is centered on owning store performance through the management of people, operations, and data analytics to drive sustainable results. In this position, you will coach talent, optimize store execution, and use insights to deliver exceptional guest experiences while contributing to the creation of healthier communities. What you'll do
- Execute the operational blueprint for the store to ensure consistent brand delivery and financial performance across all metrics.
- Coach and develop a high-performing team through the full employee lifecycle, from recruitment to retention and career progression.
- Analyze guest metrics and feedback to identify trends and implement actions that elevate the guest experience and reinforce brand alignment.
- Champion food safety, cleanliness, and equipment readiness, resolving facility, supply, or quality issues with a proactive focus on team safety and compliance.
- Drive sales and profitability by controlling costs, analyzing reports, and executing strategic plans that optimize labor, inventory, and margin.
- Forecast demand accurately to optimize labor schedules and inventory levels, ensuring the right resources are deployed at the right times.
- Operate and support all store systems, troubleshooting issues in real time to ensure smooth daily operations and minimal guest disruption.
- Utilize data analytics to identify operational inefficiencies and implement corrective actions that enhance productivity and guest satisfaction.
- Perform all duties associated with the Assistant Coach, Shift Leader, and Kitchen Lead roles to support the entire career path and maintain operational continuity.
- Lead by example to foster a culture of trust, transparency, and accountability that empowers the team to exceed performance standards.
- Ensure strict adherence to company standards, policies, and procedures while maintaining a flexible approach to meet evolving business needs.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with regional leaders and support teams to share best practices and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Monitor competitor activity and market trends to position the store for competitive advantage within the NYM Metro Area.
- Communicate regularly with corporate stakeholders to provide updates on performance, challenges, and opportunities for growth.
- Inspire the team to deliver on the Sweetgreen promise of fresh, flavorful food rooted in relationships with farmers and communities.
Requirements
- Bring a background of 3+ years in food service, including 2+ years in hands-on management within a fast-paced environment.
- Hold a ServSafe Manager or Regional Manager Food Safety Certification to ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
- Meet all physical requirements of the role, including the ability to stand, lift, and move throughout the store as needed.
- Demonstrate the ability to plan, manage, and forecast finances, labor, and inventory with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Mentor high-performing teams through coaching, feedback, and development opportunities that drive engagement and retention.
- Show adaptability and strong problem-solving skills, utilizing data to identify root causes and implement operational improvements.
- Thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume restaurant environment where multitasking and prioritization are essential.
- Communicate effectively with team members, guests, and leadership to maintain clarity and alignment on goals and expectations.
