Suno is actively searching for a Senior Counsel to join the dedicated Product Legal team, a pivotal role within the rapidly expanding legal organization. What you'll do
- Conduct in-depth analysis of the product roadmap to identify potential legal risks and compliance requirements.
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide array of agreements necessary for product development and third-party collaborations.
- Partner with engineering and design teams to integrate legal safeguards directly into the product development lifecycle.
- Research and synthesize emerging regulations concerning AI, copyright, and digital media to inform product strategy.
- Lead initiatives to ensure adherence to content safety standards and data protection protocols.
- Advise on intellectual property strategy to protect the company's innovations and content library.
- Develop and maintain legal playbooks and procedures specific to product launches and iterations.
- Liaise with external counsel and regulators to address complex legal inquiries and investigations.
- Create training materials to educate cross-functional teams on relevant legal topics and compliance obligations.
- Monitor global regulatory trends to anticipate changes that could impact product operations and market entry.
- Collaborate with security teams to ensure that data handling practices meet the highest standards of privacy and security.
- Evaluate advertising and marketing claims to ensure they are accurate and do not constitute misleading representation.
- Support the scaling of legal operations by implementing efficient workflows and documentation standards.
- Provide rapid legal responses to urgent product questions without compromising thoroughness or accuracy.
Requirements
- Must hold a Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
- Must be an active member in good standing with a US state bar.
- Must possess at least 8 years of professional legal experience.
- Must have significant in-house product legal experience within the technology sector.
- Must demonstrate a strong grasp of copyright law, particularly as it applies to music and digital content.
- Must have a solid understanding of AI technology and its associated legal implications.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with both business executives and technical engineers.
- Must exhibit a proactive and ownership mindset towards projects of all scope.
- Must thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic, and rapidly growing startup environment.
- Must possess a positive, adaptable, and intellectually curious mindset.
- Must have a proven track record of high integrity and discretion when handling sensitive information.
- Must be eligible to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship for this position.
- Must be willing to work on-site full-time from the Los Angeles office.
