Senior Product Designer, Client Engagement
Job description
About the role
Senior Product Designer, Client Engagement
Squarespace operates as a design-led company that enables individuals to stand out and transact online. The organization is seeking a Senior Product Designer to join the Client Engagement Group (CEG). This suite of tools assists entrepreneurs in understanding, managing, and expanding their customer relationships.
The CEG encompasses CRM and Automations: the Contacts experience that converts customer data into strategic business actions, and the Automations engine that enables sellers to scale by automating manual processes. Depending on the specific role, the designer may focus on transforming a complex workflow into an intuitive experience or converting a dense dataset into an at-a-glance actionable view. In both scenarios, the core challenge remains consistent: presenting powerful technology that operates invisibly.
Responsibilities
The Senior Product Designer in this role will simplify sophisticated concepts into accessible solutions. This involves designing multi-step automations and data-rich contact views, ensuring sophisticated functionality feels straightforward and obvious. The designer will create experiences that manage triggers, conditions, branching workflows, and intricate customer data while concealing the underlying complexity.
Leading data visualization is another key duty. This requires developing methods to present audience growth, customer health, and engagement metrics in ways that are meaningful and drive action, rather than merely displaying information. The designer will think end-to-end, considering the complete seller journey from initial lead interaction to long-term loyalty, ensuring seamless integration across the platform.
The role also involves prototyping motion and interface states. The designer will use high-fidelity prototypes to define interactions with live data, background processes, and complex UI states. Close cross-functional collaboration is essential, requiring partnership with Product Managers, Engineers, and Researchers to shape strategy, define constraints, and launch high-quality work. Finally, the designer will drive craft and systems, championing quality design and contributing to scalable frameworks that elevate the team's standards.
Profile
The ideal candidate brings a minimum of 6 years of product design experience. The portfolio must demonstrate work on complex systems, including workflow tools, data-rich interfaces, or logic-heavy applications that have been simplified for human use. A systems-thinking mindset is required, enabling design at scale without sacrificing detail. The designer must be able to map how a single change propagates across a product and build frameworks that remain robust.
Visual and information design expertise is crucial. The designer must know how to use hierarchy, color, and layout to guide users through decisions, particularly when the underlying data is messy. Proficiency in Figma is mandatory, with the ability to build scalable components and high-fidelity prototypes, moving fluidly from concept to refined micro-interaction. Strong communication skills are required to clearly articulate design decisions to engineers, leadership, and stakeholders. The designer must maintain a user-first perspective, conducting user interviews and leveraging research to understand and anticipate the needs of busy business owners.
Compensation and Location
This position is based in Dublin and offers a cash compensation range of €93,000 to €143,000 EUR. The base salary will vary according to job-related factors such as relevant skills, experience, and location.
Benefits include comprehensive health insurance with 100% covered premiums for the employee, spouse or partner, and dependent children, covering medical, dental, and vision. Additional perks include life and income protection, fertility and adoption benefits, a Headspace mindfulness app subscription, a Global Employee Assistance Program, and pension benefits with employer match. The package offers flexible paid time off, 26 weeks of paid maternity leave and 12 weeks of paid paternity leave, 2 weeks of paid family care leave, and an annual tax-free stipend. Other benefits include education reimbursement, an employee donation match program, 7 Global Employee Resource Groups (ERGs), free lunch and snacks, and proximity to cultural landmarks such as Dublin Castle and St. Patrick's Cathedral.
What You Will Do
- Orchestrate intricate workflows into clear, confident steps for sellers managing contacts and campaigns.
- Craft interfaces that quietly handle branching logic, keeping heavy machinery hidden from everyday use.
- Chart audience patterns and health signals so data moves teams toward informed, timely action.
- Map the entire seller path, ensuring early leads and lasting loyalty feel smoothly connected across products.
- Prototype detailed interactions for live data, background tasks, and layered interface states under pressure.
- Guide principles and components so quality systems lift the standard across designers and engineers.
- Advise PMs and engineers, then define constraints to deliver thoughtful work on demanding schedules.
- Translate research into behavior patterns, placing busy owners at ease before frustration appears.
Requirements
- Hold 6+ years of product design experience, with proof using complex systems and data-oriented interfaces.
- Think at scale yet notice details, tracing how one shift travels across experience and architecture.
- Command visual and information design, turning messy inputs into choices users can easily understand.
- Be a Figma master, fluent in components, high-detail prototypes, and moving from idea to polish.
- Communicate with clarity, explaining tradeoffs to engineers, leadership, and partners without losing nuance.
- Center users, using interviews and study results to guide decisions for busy business owners.
Nice to Have
- Portfolio showcasing systems with logic, data, and complex tools simplified for human use.
