The Data Analyst in Physical Infrastructure will own the translation of complex facility operations into clear, actionable intelligence. You will serve as the primary analytical partner for the infrastructure team, ensuring that decisions are driven by evidence rather than intuition. This role requires curiosity about how buildings, power, and cooling systems actually work in the physical world. You will be responsible for turning raw sensor streams into narratives that leadership can understand and act upon. The position demands rigor, ownership, and a commitment to data integrity in a fast-paced environment. You will play a key role in enabling the scalability and efficiency of our physical footprint through analytical excellence.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Aggregate and process large-scale data regarding power, cooling, and energy usage from our facilities.
- Create and improve predictive models for utility consumption to assist with procurement and budget planning.
- Develop and manage interactive dashboards and reporting tools to track business metrics.
- Pinpoint inefficiencies and anomalies within cooling and power distribution systems.
- Collaborate with electrical and mechanical engineering groups to implement operational improvements based on data findings.
- Conduct scenario analysis and capacity modeling to support infrastructure growth.
- Build automated pipelines to ensure real-time visibility into infrastructure performance.
- Communicate findings and recommendations to leadership and cross-functional partners.
- Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to define key performance indicators and ensure metric consistency.
- Investigate root causes of infrastructure issues using statistical methods and data exploration techniques.
- Design experiments to test hypotheses about system behavior and validate proposed changes.
- Transform messy operational data into clean datasets suitable for advanced analysis and machine learning.
- Document analytical processes, assumptions, and limitations to ensure reproducibility and transparency.
- Support ad hoc requests from executive leadership while maintaining focus on strategic analytical projects.
- Identify opportunities for automation to reduce manual effort and increase reliability of reporting.
Requirements
- 4+ years of professional experience in analytics engineering, business intelligence, or data analysis.
- Proficiency in SQL and Python (using pandas or scikit-learn) or R for modeling and analysis.
- Experience creating visualizations and dashboards in tools such as Looker, Power BI, Tableau, or similar.
- Background in time-series analysis, statistics, and forecasting.
- Experience managing large datasets and creating scalable reporting systems.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and make sound judgments with minimal supervision.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies, tools, and processes in a fast-evolving environment.
- A meticulous approach to data validation and quality assurance to ensure accuracy of insights.
- Comfort working with ambiguous problems where data may be incomplete or noisy.
- Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Commitment to following established procedures while seeking continuous improvement.
- Professionalism in communication and interactions with internal partners and leadership.
Nice to have
- Experience in industrial facilities, datacenters, utilities, or energy sectors.
- Familiarity with IoT sensor data, building management systems, or SCADA.
- Proficiency with cloud platforms like BigQuery, Snowflake, or AWS/GCP/Azure data services.
- Knowledge of energy modeling or HVAC metrics such as PUE and WUE.
- Advanced degree in Engineering, Statistics, Data Science, Operations Research, or a related quantitative field.
