Our work will help further the impact that Starlink is already making to millions of users around the world, while allowing us to broaden that reach dramatically and continue connecting the unconnected here on earth. You will own the design, development, and delivery of critical software systems that directly enable production and engineering operations at Akoustis, ensuring that data flows reliably across equipment, databases, and dashboards. You will translate complex manufacturing requirements into robust software solutions while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to define, implement, and iterate on system behavior. The role requires you to take full ownership of software projects from initial scoping through deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement in a fast-paced environment. You will be responsible for ensuring that the software you build is scalable, maintainable, and aligned with the highest standards of quality and reliability.

What you'll do
Design and develop software applications that drive automation and data visibility across Akoustis semiconductor fabrication processes.
Implement and integrate production automation software with manufacturing equipment and control systems to enable reliable data exchange.
Build prototypes to prove out key design concepts, quantify technical constraints, and validate feasibility before full-scale implementation.
Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to define software requirements, system interfaces, and acceptance criteria.
Create new applications and features that improve how Akoustis production operates, focusing on throughput, quality, and efficiency.
Develop and maintain the infrastructure used to execute internal and external operations, including monitoring and logging capabilities.
Write SQL queries and contribute to database schema design, focusing on MariaDB or MySQL to support production data needs.
Use version control, testing, continuous integration, build, deployment, and monitoring practices to deliver high-quality software releases.
Analyze and deep dive into users' problems to find efficient, scalable, and maintainable software solutions.
Follow and maintain high software standards and software engineering best practices across the codebase and documentation.
Requirements
You hold a Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a STEM discipline and have 1+ years of experience building full-stack software; alternatively, you have 3+ years of professional experience building full-stack software in lieu of a degree, and internship experience is applicable.
You are willing to work long hours and weekends as needed to meet project and production demands.
You must be willing to work onsite at the Canandaigua, New York location, as remote work is not considered for this role.
You have a strong focus and interest in designing, architecting, and implementing bug-free software that supports manufacturing and operational systems.
You possess strong written, verbal, and organizational communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
You are able to lead teams and succeed in completing projects on time while adhering to strict quality and reliability standards.
You can collaborate with teams to define specifications and deliverables while maintaining clear and transparent communication.
You understand the importance of maintaining high software standards and software engineering best practices in a regulated manufacturing environment.
Nice to have
Software development experience in C#, .NET, Python, Go, Java, or similar object-oriented language.
Front-end experience in Blazor, Angular, React, or similar JavaScript framework.
Experience with SECS/GEM semiconductor manufacturing automation and a deep understanding of version control, testing, continuous integration, build, deployment, and monitoring.
Skill in writing SQL and database schema design, preferably in MariaDB or MySQL.
Experience with Docker application deployment or related technology.
Familiarity with Microsoft Power BI or similar Business Intelligence platforms.
Experience with MES, ERP, or related enterprise systems.
Expertise in designing software systems and leading their implementation from conception through production.
Practical notes
This role requires onsite work at the Canandaigua, New York location with no remote work options. Willingness to work extended hours and weekends may be required during critical project or production periods. The compensation details provided reflect the base salary range for this position.
