About the role

SpaceX is on the lookout for a dedicated Supplier Quality Specialist to join the team during the 3rd shift, focusing on the Starlink program. What you'll do

• Evaluate and enhance the existing issue ticket system to improve supplier performance metrics.
• Oversee non-conformance issues related to incoming quality checks, production processes, and deviations from supplier specifications.
• Provide on-site technical assistance at supplier locations to ensure the reliability of parts.
• Partner with engineering and procurement teams to conduct audits of manufacturing processes and facilitate the onboarding of new suppliers.
• Implement supply chain quality protocols, including Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA), Material Review Board (MRB) processes, Return to Vendor (RTV) procedures, and First Article Inspections.
• Organize containment measures for non-conforming components to reduce risks associated with flight operations.
• Create and formalize new quality standards and policies aimed at reinforcing supply chain stability.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement initiatives within the supply chain.
• Analyze data to identify trends and areas for improvement in supplier performance.
• Train suppliers on quality expectations and compliance requirements to ensure alignment with SpaceX standards.
• Document all quality-related activities and maintain accurate records for compliance and reporting purposes.

Requirements

• A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
• At least 2 years of relevant professional experience in manufacturing, engineering, supply chain management, or quality assurance, or a bachelor's degree in engineering or supply chain management.
• Candidates must be U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, asylees, or refugees to meet ITAR compliance requirements.
• Willingness to work the 3rd shift, including weekends and overtime as necessary.
• Ability to travel up to 25% of the time for supplier visits and audits.
• Must be able to work on-site in Bastrop, TX, as remote work is not an option.

Nice to have

• A bachelor's degree in engineering or supply chain management is preferred.
• Technical knowledge in areas such as electronics, injection molding, or machined components.
• Experience interpreting engineering drawings and understanding Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Familiarity with AS9100 or comparable quality management frameworks.
• Background in supplier development and experience managing supplier portals.
• Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration across various teams and for delivering presentations.

Skills & tools

• Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Understanding of lean manufacturing principles and methodologies.
• Competence in statistical analysis and data analytics to drive decision-making.
• Familiarity with Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) systems to address quality issues.
