In this position, you will play a pivotal role in managing international employment compliance, immigration processes, and employee mobility across SpaceX's diverse global operations. Your responsibilities will involve ensuring that the organization adheres to all relevant legal, tax, and employment regulations while facilitating the seamless movement of talent around the world. What you'll do
- Oversee the preparation and submission of visa applications and immigration documentation for employees assigned to various locations, including the U.S., India, Brazil, Singapore, and Ireland.
- Provide strategic guidance to HR leadership regarding emerging international immigration laws and associated risks that could impact the organization.
- Collaborate closely with the legal department to create and refine global HR and mobility policies, ensuring they are reflected in international employee handbooks.
- Partner with global mobility service providers to manage various mobility scenarios, including short-term assignments, long-term relocations, and remote work arrangements.
- Maintain and analyze data related to global mobility and immigration, tracking visa statuses, work authorizations, and employee travel days.
- Work in conjunction with external immigration attorneys and Professional Employer Organizations (PEOs) to ensure compliance with local labor laws, tax obligations, and statutory reporting requirements in all operational jurisdictions.
- Conduct thorough HR compliance audits in collaboration with local legal counsel to ensure adherence to regulations.
- Liaise with Finance, Tax, and Legal departments to uphold compliant employment structures, contractor relationships, and payroll processes.
- Act as the primary liaison for government agencies and local authorities regarding employment compliance issues.
- Collaborate with external legal counsel to revise and update essential legal documents, such as employment agreements.
- Manage the background check process, ensuring it aligns with local labor and employment regulations.
Requirements
- A Bachelor's degree is required for this position.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in global HR, immigration, or mobility management is essential.
- Willingness to travel up to 15% of the time is necessary for this role.
- Flexibility to work extended hours and weekends as needed is expected.
- Candidates must be U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, refugees, or asylees, or must be eligible to obtain necessary authorizations from the U.S. Department of State due to ITAR regulations.
- This position requires on-site presence in Bastrop, TX, and relocation is necessary for candidates not currently residing in the area.
Nice to have
- At least 5 years of experience in global HR, immigration, or mobility management, with a comprehensive understanding of U.S. immigration laws is preferred.
- Familiarity with employment and HR compliance regulations in countries such as India, Brazil, Singapore, and Ireland is advantageous.
- Experience working alongside engineering, manufacturing, and operational teams to address compliance obligations is a plus.
- Proven ability to implement compliance procedures and systems effectively is desirable.
