As an , you will play a vital role in the critical infrastructure team, focusing on the design, construction, and commissioning of state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities. Your expertise will be essential in developing automated solutions that enhance rapid research, production processes, and effective asset management. The automation and controls team is responsible for creating comprehensive control systems, guiding projects from the initial concept phase through to final implementation.

What you'll do

• Participate in the early stages of equipment concept development, evaluating product specifications, process requirements, layout intricacies, budget considerations, and project timelines.
• Design and create industrial electrical control panels that comply with NFPA79, NEC, and UL508A standards, while also generating electrical, pneumatic, and fluid schematics.
• Utilize process simulation tools such as ABB Robotstudio, Kuka Sim, or Siemens Process Simulate to validate and refine automation concepts.
• Develop, structure, and troubleshoot PLC code that is organized, well-documented, and reusable for various manufacturing applications.
• Create user-friendly HMI screens for complex machinery, ensuring they provide clear diagnostic feedback.
• Supervise the fabrication of electrical cabinets, field wiring, pneumatic systems, and fluid plumbing installations.
• Specify and size electrical and electromechanical components, including servo motors and controllers, to meet project requirements.
• Transition automated processes and equipment into active production, ensuring seamless integration.
• Manage project timelines and budgets from inception to completion, ensuring all milestones are met.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline is required.
• At least one year of professional experience in designing and commissioning automation and control systems within industrial environments.
• Flexibility to work extended hours and weekends as needed to meet project demands.
• Willingness to travel to various company locations for project-related activities.

Nice to have

• Experience in building automation specifically for critical infrastructure projects.
• Knowledge of HVAC controls, mechanical wiring, and Delta controls.
• Familiarity with process integration and mechatronic systems.
• Proficiency in electrical schematic design using EPlan software.
• Programming experience in C#, .NET, Python, or SQL.
• Competence in PLC programming using Siemens TIA Portal or Beckhoff TwinCat 3.
• Experience in developing HMI and SCADA systems.
• Understanding of field bus networks, serial communication, and Ethernet protocols.
• Hands-on experience with panel building and commissioning electromechanical systems.
• Knowledge of relevant codes such as NEC, NFPA 79, and UL508A.
• Exposure to production machinery and industrial sensors, including vision systems, dispense systems, temperature controllers, laser distance sensors, and nut-runners.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience working in fast-paced, iterative design and manufacturing environments.
• Proven ability to solve complex problems independently or collaboratively, while adhering to deadlines.

• Proficient in PLC programming, particularly with Siemens TIA Portal and Beckhoff TwinCat 3.
• Experienced with simulation software including ABB Robotstudio, Kuka Sim, and Siemens Process Simulate.
• Skilled in using EPlan for electrical schematic design.
