About the role
Sourcegraph is on the lookout for a Product Manager with a strong technical background and a practical mindset to lead the creation of innovative products designed for developers and their AI counterparts. This position will initially focus on collaborating with a vibrant engineering team, working across various departments to prioritize initiatives, gather insights from customers, and navigate products through their development lifecycle.

What you'll do
- Work closely with engineering teams to determine product priorities and incorporate customer feedback into the development process.
- Establish product requirements and specifications that align with customer expectations and strategic objectives.
- Act as a liaison between engineering, marketing, and sales teams to ensure smooth product launches and effective communication.
- Interact directly with customers to gain a deep understanding of their workflows and challenges, translating these insights into actionable product strategies.
- Oversee the entire lifecycle of product features, from initial experimentation to general availability, ensuring clarity and focus throughout each stage.
- Analyze market trends and customer needs to inform product direction and feature enhancements.
- Develop and maintain a product roadmap that reflects both customer feedback and business goals.
- Conduct regular assessments of product performance and user satisfaction to identify areas for improvement.
- Facilitate cross-functional meetings to ensure alignment on product vision and execution.
- Mentor junior product team members and contribute to the overall growth of the product management discipline within the company.
- Collaborate with marketing teams to create effective go-to-market strategies for new product features.
- Stay informed about industry trends and emerging technologies to keep Sourcegraph at the forefront of product innovation.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience in product management, preferably in a startup or fast-paced environment.
- A background in software engineering or substantial coding experience is essential.
- Demonstrated success in developing technical products aimed at developers or highly technical users.
- Proven experience in engaging with customers throughout the product development lifecycle, from discovery to launch.
- Ability to translate customer challenges and technical concepts into clear, actionable product specifications.
- Experience in managing priorities across multiple teams while balancing competing demands effectively.
- Strong understanding of software development processes, including familiarity with Git and modern developer tools.
- Exceptional communication skills, capable of conveying product value to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Must have significant overlap with Eastern Time working hours to facilitate collaboration.

- Knowledge of AI-driven products, coding assistants, or large language models, along with insights into the future of software development.
- Experience with developer tools, code intelligence, or large-scale code transformations.
- A background in working with enterprise clients and navigating complex development environments.

Practical notes
- This role is open to candidates worldwide, but preference will be given to those located in the Eastern Time Zone or Europe.
- Candidates must ensure their working hours overlap with Eastern Standard Time for a minimum of 20 hours per week.

Compensation
Sourcegraph is committed to offering competitive salaries to attract top-tier talent. The base salary for this position is determined by the IC4 pay band relevant to your location, experience, and skills. The starting salaries for the IC4 pay band are as follows:
- Zone 2: $167,200 USD
- Zone 3: $125,400 USD
- Zone 4: $83,600 USD
