About the role

We are seeking a focused and resilient engineer to own the reliability and performance of our globally distributed control plane. You will own the critical backend services that power developer search and agent execution across our multi-tenant infrastructure. This role requires you to own end to end delivery of features that span frontend, backend, and infrastructure boundaries with minimal coordination. You will collaborate closely with product and design to translate ambiguous problems into reliable shipping plans. You will own the debugging and optimization of production incidents with high severity across search and batch change systems. You will mentor junior engineers by providing clear technical direction and code review in a remote first environment. You will partner with our AI platform team to ensure agent workloads are met with robust context delivery. You will contribute to the architectural decisions that define how we scale indexing and querying across exabyte scale code graphs.

What you'll do

Scale and operate the reliability of our globally distributed control plane serving search and agentic workflows.

Design and implement indexing pipelines that handle multi-repo codebases with strict correctness and performance SLAs.

Build and maintain APIs that enable deep cross repository search and precise context resolution for AI agents.

Implement storage layer optimizations that reduce query latency and infrastructure cost across large tenant workloads.

Own the production debugging processes for critical incidents affecting search accuracy and batch change execution.

Partner with product teams to define and ship features that improve developer understanding across monorepos and complex codebases.

Collaborate with our AI platform group to align context delivery with emerging agent execution patterns.

Drive observability and instrumentation across all backend services to surface performance regressions proactively.

Engage with customers through support and discovery work to translate real world needs into product requirements.

Contribute to the design of our data model to ensure correctness and scalability as we ingest new code graph formats.

Define and maintain service level objectives that reflect the needs of both internal and external consumer teams.

Lead postmortems and blameless reviews to drive improvements in system reliability and developer experience.

Work closely with our security and compliance teams to ensure our infrastructure meets enterprise standards.

Prototype new features in fast moving areas like deep search and agentic batch changes to validate product hypotheses.

Requirements

You have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field or equivalent practical experience.

You have 5+ years of experience building and operating backend services at scale.

You are proficient in Go or Java and have demonstrated ability to write high throughput services.

You have experience designing and operating distributed systems and data pipelines.

You are comfortable working with relational databases and large scale search platforms like Elasticsearch.

You have shipped production features in a multi tenant SaaS environment.

You have experience with container orchestration platforms, specifically Kubernetes.

You are comfortable reading and contributing to large monorepos with complex dependency graphs.

You have strong written communication skills to collaborate effectively in a fully remote environment.

You are comfortable working asynchronously across multiple time zones.

You have a strong sense of ownership and follow through on commitments in the face of ambiguity.

You have experience with infrastructure as code practices and version controlled operations.

You have used observability tools to debug production issues in distributed services.

You are passionate about building tools that help engineering teams achieve more with precise context and automation.

You are comfortable making technical tradeoffs to balance delivery speed with long term maintainability.

You have experience contributing to open source projects that are consumed by large organizations.

You have worked with code analysis or developer tooling platforms that require high correctness and performance.

Experience building developer platforms or internal tools for large engineering organizations.

Experience with AI agent tooling and prompt engineering for code understanding systems.

Experience contributing to or operating search platforms at extreme scale.

Experience with compliance and security programs in regulated industries.

Experience mentoring engineers in remote first settings.

Experience with cost optimization for large scale data pipelines and storage systems.

Experience with MCP and protocol for agent context exchange.
