What you'll do
- Conduct regular site inspections to assess compliance with safety regulations and company policies, identifying any potential hazards or unsafe practices.
- Develop and implement safety training programs tailored to the specific needs of different teams and projects, ensuring all employees are well-informed about safety protocols.
- Collaborate with project managers and site supervisors to create and maintain a safe working environment, providing guidance on safety best practices.
- Investigate accidents and near-misses to determine root causes, documenting findings and recommending corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
- Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, training sessions, and incident reports, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Serve as a point of contact for employees regarding safety concerns, fostering open communication and encouraging reporting of unsafe conditions.
- Stay updated on industry regulations and best practices, integrating new safety standards into existing protocols as necessary.
- Participate in safety meetings and workshops, sharing insights and promoting a culture of continuous improvement in safety performance.
- Assist in the development of emergency response plans and conduct drills to ensure preparedness for various scenarios.
- Monitor the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) on-site, ensuring that all employees are equipped and trained to use safety gear appropriately.
- Provide support during audits and inspections by regulatory agencies, ensuring that all safety practices are documented and compliant.
- Collaborate with the HR department to ensure that safety policies are integrated into employee onboarding and ongoing training processes.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in a safety role, preferably within the construction or industrial sectors.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety standards applicable to various work environments.
- Proven ability to conduct safety audits and inspections, with a keen eye for detail.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey complex safety concepts clearly.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to identifying and addressing safety issues.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating strong interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software.
- Certification in safety management (e.g., CSP, CIH, or similar) is highly desirable.
