About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced K-12 Hebrew Educator to design and lead a unified Hebrew program across every grade level, from early childhood through high school. This is a senior teaching position for an educator with a profound understanding of developmental progression and the ability to construct a vertically aligned language journey. This journey must guide students from initial exposure to fluency, progressing from sound and rhythm to text, interpretation, and expression.

The incumbent will not only instruct but will architect the entire Hebrew experience at SOLFL.

Core Responsibilities

Program Design & Vertical Alignment

You are responsible for designing and leading a comprehensive Hebrew curriculum that spans early childhood through high school. You must ensure a clear progression, moving students from oral language to literacy, then to fluency, and finally to textual and cultural depth. You will also build assessment systems that measure growth while simultaneously preserving a love for the language.

Advanced Instruction Across Age Groups

You will teach across divisions, including middle and high school Hebrew. You will guide younger students through immersive, play-based language acquisition. For older students, you will lead instruction in reading, writing, conversation, and engagement with texts and ideas.

Cultural, Historical & Textual Depth

You will integrate Jewish culture, history, and values into Hebrew learning in an age-appropriate manner. You will introduce older students to meaningful texts, interpretation, and discussion. Through this, Hebrew will be positioned as a lens for students to explore identity, community, and worldview.

Experiential & Integrated Learning

You will bring Hebrew into the daily life of the school through rituals, music, gatherings, and interdisciplinary projects. Collaboration with humanities, arts, and music educators is essential to integrate Hebrew into broader themes. You will design projects, performances, or exhibitions where Hebrew is actively used and expressed.

Leadership & Collaboration

You will serve as the lead voice for Hebrew within the school. You will mentor other educators or assistants who support Hebrew learning. Close collaboration with leadership is required to continuously evolve the program.

You will coordinate with arts instructors to ensure student projects highlight Hebrew through original creations. You will direct older cohorts as they engage with interpretation, debate, and nuanced conversation. You will establish clear benchmarks that map growth without sacrificing joy or personal discovery. You will guide teaching teams to refine materials, share successes, and adjust plans for diverse learners.

Requirements

You must possess a background in K-12 Hebrew instruction that spans the middle and high school years. A deep understanding of how language skills develop from beginner sounds to complex text analysis is essential. You must have the capacity to design lessons that respect strict educational boundaries while inviting creative risk.
