Key facts
What you'll do
- Review mortgage applications and supporting documentation to ensure completeness and accuracy, adhering to company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Communicate with loan officers, underwriters, and clients to gather necessary information and resolve any discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Prepare and organize loan files for underwriting, ensuring all required documentation is included and properly formatted.
- Analyze credit reports, income statements, and asset documentation to assess borrower eligibility and risk factors.
- Maintain detailed records of all communications and actions taken during the processing of each loan application.
- Collaborate with various departments, including underwriting and compliance, to facilitate a seamless loan processing experience.
- Monitor the progress of loan applications and provide regular updates to clients and stakeholders on the status of their loans.
- Identify potential issues in the loan processing workflow and suggest improvements to enhance efficiency and customer satisfaction.
- Stay informed about industry trends, regulatory changes, and company policies to ensure compliance and best practices in mortgage processing.

Requirements
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in mortgage processing or a related field, with a proven track record of managing loan applications effectively.
- Strong understanding of mortgage products, underwriting guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
- Proficient in using mortgage processing software and tools, as well as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to build rapport with clients and colleagues.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret financial documents and assess borrower qualifications.
Nice to have
- Experience with automated underwriting systems and other mortgage technology platforms.
- Familiarity with government-backed loan programs, such as FHA, VA, and USDA loans.
- Certification from a recognized mortgage processing or underwriting organization.
