The Senior Business Systems Engineer will play a pivotal role in developing the backend infrastructure and data pipelines that link our essential enterprise platforms. This position is part of a global engineering team focused on modernizing outdated integrations and enhancing the reliability of our systems.

Key facts

What you'll do

• Design, develop, and sustain backend integrations utilizing AWS services such as Lambda, S3, SQS, SNS, and EventBridge.
• Implement API-driven automations to facilitate data transfer between platforms like Salesforce, NetSuite, Workday, and Snowflake.
• Revise and enhance legacy integration logic to align with contemporary architectural standards.
• Oversee the complete development lifecycle, from initial design to deployment, using GitLab CI/CD, Terraform, or CloudFormation.
• Collaborate with engineering teams based in the US for sprint planning, technical transitions, and code evaluations.
• Participate in a production support rotation to diagnose and rectify issues related to data pipelines or integration failures.
• Work alongside architects and business systems analysts to confirm testing strategies and ensure system reliability.
• Support both real-time event streaming and batch ETL processes to maintain data integrity and availability.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in backend development or automation, specifically using Python or Node.js.
• Strong familiarity with AWS services, including Lambda, S3, SQS, SNS, EventBridge, and DynamoDB.
• Proven experience in building integrations with platforms such as Salesforce, NetSuite, Workday, Coupa, Stripe, and Snowflake.
• Solid understanding of database schema modeling, design principles, and query optimization techniques for DynamoDB and Snowflake.
• Knowledge of secure API development, system interoperability, and various integration design patterns.
• Experience with infrastructure as code using Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Proficient in managing CI/CD pipelines in GitLab for testing and deployment processes.
• Experience in delivering solutions across various business functions, including Sales, Finance, People, Legal, and Business Intelligence.
• Ability to thrive in an Agile environment and actively engage in standard sprint ceremonies.

Nice to have

• Experience with data validation, cross-system reconciliation, and schema evolution processes.
• Familiarity with Generative AI or prompt engineering techniques for code generation.
• Previous exposure to working in a global team environment, enhancing cross-cultural collaboration skills.

Skills & tools

• Proficient in programming languages such as Python and Node.js, with experience using development tools like VS Code.
• Extensive knowledge of AWS services, including Lambda, S3, SQS, SNS, EventBridge, and DynamoDB.
• Experience with enterprise platforms like Salesforce, NetSuite, Workday, Coupa, Stripe, and Snowflake.
• Skilled in using Terraform, CloudFormation, and GitLab CI/CD for infrastructure management and deployment.
• Familiar with various data transfer protocols, including REST, SOAP, Change Data Capture (CDC), and ETL processes.
