About the role
Smartly is seeking a Solutions Engineer to join the Technical Consulting team in Mexico City. You will design and build custom integrations and tooling to help enterprise clients and agency partners maximize the utility of the Smartly platform. In this role, you will act as a technical architect and trusted advisor, translating complex business needs into scalable and reliable technology solutions. You will own the end-to-end lifecycle of customer integrations, from initial discovery and requirements gathering through design, implementation, and ongoing optimization. You will leverage cloud-native technologies to create seamless connections between the Smartly platform and your clients' existing toolchains. This position requires a proactive mindset to identify process improvements and drive customer success through technical excellence. You will be instrumental in shaping the technical direction of customer engagements and ensuring that solutions are robust, maintainable, and aligned with strategic goals.

What you'll do
- Architect and deploy custom integrations connecting the Smartly platform to external enterprise systems using cloud-native technologies and RESTful APIs.
- Design and implement workflow automation solutions that streamline marketing operations, reporting pipelines, and data connectivity for high-impact client campaigns.
- Collaborate closely with customer engineering teams and internal implementation specialists to troubleshoot issues and refine technical designs in real time.
- Develop and enhance internal applications and operational tools that empower the Technical Consulting team to deliver consistent and efficient service delivery.
- Refactor and modernize legacy system components to reduce technical debt, thereby improving scalability, performance, and long-term reliability of customer solutions.
- Oversee infrastructure management tasks including the configuration of CI/CD pipelines, deployment strategies on AWS, and orchestration using Kubernetes clusters.
- Conduct thorough code reviews and establish engineering standards to ensure code quality, test coverage, monitoring implementation, and comprehensive documentation.
- Serve as the primary escalation point for intricate technical issues related to platform integrations, diagnosing root causes and coordinating resolution strategies.
- Partner with Product and Engineering departments to deliver tactical solutions that accelerate customer adoption and drive measurable business outcomes.
- Translate ambiguous business requirements into clear technical specifications, ensuring alignment between client expectations and the delivered solution.
- Implement monitoring and logging frameworks to ensure high availability and rapid identification of performance bottlenecks or system failures.
- Explore and prototype emerging technologies that can enhance the Smartly platform's capabilities within enterprise customer environments.
- Document integration patterns and architectural decisions to create reusable knowledge that supports future project efficiency.
- Mentor junior team members on best practices for cloud development, integration design, and operational excellence.
Requirements
- Bring a professional background in solutions engineering, software engineering, or technical consulting with a proven track record of delivering complex integrations.
- Demonstrate extensive experience building cloud-based applications, system integrations, and robust APIs that operate reliably at scale.
- Show proficiency with modern cloud infrastructure, including Kubernetes orchestration, Amazon Web Services services, containerized application deployment, and automated CI/CD pipelines.
- Highlight strong programming skills with a focus on writing production-quality code that is maintainable, scalable, and well-documented.
- Exhibit the ability to navigate technical ambiguity and methodically solve complex customer requirements without clear precedent.
- Illustrate experience collaborating effectively across engineering and customer-facing teams to align priorities and resolve conflicts.
- Provide a background supporting enterprise software implementations or technical consulting engagements where client communication is critical.
- Commit to working within the hybrid engagement model based in Mexico City, with the flexibility to support international deployments for up to 30 days annually.
