Job description
You will own the end to end sourcing strategy for critical radio frequency and connectivity components that enable autonomous flight. This role requires you to act as the primary interface between engineering and supply chain for antenna, connector, cable, and wire harness decisions. You will guide supplier selection and component qualification from new product introduction through high volume manufacturing. You will analyze global market dynamics to secure resilient sources for specialty electronic parts. You will manage the full lifecycle of commercial agreements and ensure strict adherence to program requirements. You will drive cost optimization while safeguarding product quality and long term reliability. You will translate technical roadmaps into actionable supply chain plans that support rapid iteration and scale.

Compensation: At Skydio, our compensation packages for regular, full-time employees include competitive base salaries, equity in the form of stock options, and comprehensive benefits packages. The annual base salary range for this position is $139,000-198,000*. - Develop technology and commodity roadmaps for antennas, connectors, cables, and wire harnesses, and serve as the supply chain link for supplier and component selection during NPI and sustaining projects.
- Create and execute strategic sourcing plans for silicon components, conducting market research, supplier evaluation, and contract negotiation to secure optimal technical and commercial terms.
- Monitor industry developments, market trends, and competitor activity to shape sourcing decisions and uncover emerging risks or opportunities.
- Build and maintain relationships with supply chain partners, overseeing vendor selection, cost, support, and product transactions while managing MDSAs, SOWs, RFIs, RFPs, and RFQs to ensure all commercial terms are documented and agreed.
- Lead price negotiation processes to position Skydio's commodity pricing as best in class, analyzing current spend and supplier performance while maintaining consumption forecasts and execution plans.
- Consolidate spend across the supplier base to generate leverage, analyze purchasing trends, and develop alternative sourcing strategies that address cost and risk.
- Coordinate with finance and accounting teams during monthly close and financial planning cycles to ensure alignment on procurement related metrics and commitments.
- Define and manage metrics related to quality, performance, and durability of components to ensure product integrity across production volumes.
- Identify and manage new high potential suppliers on a global basis, evaluating capabilities and risks relevant to electromechanical and specialized electronic parts.
- Partner with engineering teams to translate product requirements into clear supplier qualifications and acceptance criteria for components used in drone systems.
- Perform cost modeling and should cost analysis to validate price合理性 and drive cost reduction opportunities without compromising critical functionality.
- Influence large electromechanical suppliers at executive levels to resolve issues, secure commitments, and enable smooth new product introductions.
- Manage supplier relationships and performance, including dispute resolution, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Keep up with emerging technologies in consumer electronics, aerospace, and robotics to evaluate how new innovations could enhance drone platforms.
- Prepare and present quantitative and qualitative comparative analysis of sourcing alternatives to support leadership decision making.
- Ensure strict compliance with company policies, ethical standards, and procurement governance across all regions and suppliers.
- Demonstrate strong practical knowledge and healthy enjoyment of manufacturing, supply chain, and purchasing processes and practices.
- Show strength in directing complex negotiations, RFP issues, cost and price analysis, and purchasing procedures in a fast paced environment.
- Use cost models to define should cost and negotiate price for sourcing and cost reduction based on data and market insights.
- Flexibility to work and achieve goals in a fast-paced start-up environment with an ability to adapt to changing circumstances and priorities.
- Understand strategic goals and communicate detailed plans across various management levels as well as multiple regional and geographic locations.
- Prepare and present quantitative and qualitative comparative analysis of sourcing alternatives for stakeholders at all levels.
- Engage and negotiate with large electromechanical suppliers and influence at executive levels to drive outcomes and resolve escalations.
- Manage respective supplier relationships and performance, including but not limited to, dispute resolution, corrective actions, and performance improvement plans.
- Maintain interest in keeping up with emerging technologies spanning consumer electronics, aerospace, and robotics to anticipate impacts on product strategy.
- Be detail-oriented, team-oriented, and exhibit enthusiasm for learning new things in complex technical domains.
- Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong ethics, and professionalism in all interactions.
- Hold a technical degree or possess comparable work experience that demonstrates mastery of engineering or supply chain principles.
- Obtain FAA Part 107 certification within the first 60 days of employment, which is strongly encouraged for all Skydio employees and required for certain positions.
