Staff Field Solutions Engineer

About the role

You will own the technical articulation of Hivemind autonomy to defense and security customers, positioning it as the core enabler for mission-capable unmanned systems. You will translate complex operational concepts into credible solution architectures that address specific customer mission problems and desired outcomes. You will serve as the primary technical advisor during discovery and design, ensuring that customer constraints, CONOPs, and platform limitations are accurately reflected in proposed autonomy approaches. You will leverage deep product knowledge of Hivemind to demonstrate how intelligent coordination and perception reduce operator burden in demanding environments. You will collaborate closely with sales, engineering, and customer teams to build trust and technical alignment from initial engagement through solution validation. You will represent Shieldai in technical briefings and customer interactions, maintaining product truth while adapting communication to varied defense audiences. You will contribute to the capture of new business by developing solution narratives that connect Hivemind capabilities to operational value and force modernization goals. You will support the development of customer-specific materials that clarify how autonomy integrates into existing and future defense architectures.

What you'll do

You will analyze customer mission requirements and operational concepts to define how Hivemind autonomy can be applied to achieve specific objectives.

You will craft tailored solution proposals that align technical capabilities with defense customer needs, platform constraints, and mission timelines.

You will conduct live demonstrations of Hivemind in simulated and real-world conditions to illustrate autonomous coordination and perception for stakeholders.

You will respond to RFIs and RFPs by producing precise technical responses that explain how Hivemind satisfies defense acquisition and operational requirements.

You will prepare white papers and technical documentation that articulate the value of autonomy in improving mission outcomes and reducing operator workload.

You will participate in technical interchange meetings with customers and partners, providing clarity on how Hivemind integrates with existing systems and workflows.

You will support customer discovery sessions to validate assumptions, uncover hidden requirements, and refine solution concepts based on feedback.

You will adapt communication styles for different audiences, from engineering teams to senior defense leadership, ensuring clarity and relevance.

You will work with internal product teams to relay customer feedback, use cases, and constraints that inform Hivemind roadmap enhancements and feature prioritization.

You will develop customer-specific scenario narratives that show how Hivemind operates under complex constraints such as denied environments and communications-degraded conditions.

You will coordinate with engineering and test teams to support validation activities that confirm solution feasibility against real platform and mission parameters.

You will represent Shieldai in field activities and customer engagements, maintaining a professional presence that reinforces product credibility.

You will contribute to the creation of capture plans that incorporate technical differentiators and address customer risk through clear solution framing.

You will track evolving customer operating environments to anticipate future autonomy needs and align Hivemind capabilities with emerging defense priorities.

Requirements

You possess a Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical field or equivalent practical experience, with a strong foundation in autonomy, robotics, or systems engineering.

You have hands-on experience with unmanned systems, sensor integration, or distributed control architectures relevant to autonomy applications.

You demonstrate a clear understanding of defense operations, mission planning, and the constraints imposed by contested or degraded environments.

You have the ability to interpret technical documentation, CONOPs, and stakeholder requirements to produce actionable solution concepts.

You communicate effectively in both written and verbal formats, with the capacity to simplify complex autonomy concepts for diverse audiences.

You are comfortable working within structured processes while maintaining flexibility to adapt to evolving customer and technical requirements.

You hold U.S. citizenship or meet the requirements for U.S. government security clearances, as this role may require eligibility for public trust or secret clearance.

You are authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship at this time, and you commit to maintaining work eligibility throughout your employment.

Nice to have

Experience with simulation tools or digital twin environments used for testing autonomy in realistic scenarios.

Prior exposure to defense acquisition processes, JCIDS, or operational needs documentation within a defense or aerospace context.

Familiarity with modular open systems approaches and standards relevant to unmanned platforms and interoperability.

Practical notes

This role is full-time and remote, with the expectation of regular availability during standard business hours.

Travel may be required for customer visits, trade shows, or technical workshops, with associated arrangements handled by Shieldai.
