About the Role
The AML Compliance Analyst is responsible for owning the compliance narrative from start to finish. This involves converting complex rules into clear, practical guidance that ensures both customer integrity and regulatory confidence. The role provides second-line oversight and advisory support across various business functions. It is critical for maintaining adherence to regulatory requirements and for developing internal standards and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will manage a diverse set of compliance-related tasks. Primary duties include providing compliance advisory support to business partners regarding consumer finance and payments regulations. This involves documenting guidance, decisions, and follow-up actions thoroughly.
The role requires supporting the intake, tracking, and completion of Compliance Operations, Advisory, and Financial Crimes Compliance work. This encompasses advisory requests, reviews, alerts, cases, and necessary actions using established workflows and evidence standards.
Oversight of complaint handling is a key function, specifically for higher-risk channels such as CFPB and BBB escalations. The analyst will contribute to analyzing complaint trends and identifying root causes. Supporting issues management governance is also essential, which includes maintaining issue and action logs, validating remediation plans, and monitoring progress until closure.
The position involves participating in change management oversight. This means reviewing initiatives for compliance impacts, control readiness, and necessary approvals or escalations. Pre-use compliance reviews of marketing and customer communications are required to identify risks related to UDAAP and fair lending. Documentation of results is mandatory.
Additional responsibilities include assisting with product development compliance assessments for new products and major initiatives. The role requires coordinating inputs, maintaining risk and control documentation, and tracking conditions for launch. Supporting third-party compliance activities for customer-facing vendors is also expected, including due diligence documentation and contract requirement tracking.
The analyst will support Financial Crimes Compliance operations, focusing on BSA/AML transaction monitoring, alert review, and case disposition according to established procedures. Sanctions and OFAC screening support is included, covering watchlist management, reviewing potential matches, documenting dispositions, and escalating true or probable matches.
Further duties involve supporting Customer Identification Program (CIP) and Customer Due Diligence/Enhanced Due Diligence (CDD/EDD) activities. This supports onboarding processes while protecting against identity defects. The role also requires assisting in the preparation and quality review of Suspicious Activity Report (SAR) narratives and supporting evidence, coordinating with investigators as needed.
The analyst will advise business, product, and operations partners on financial crimes requirements and control expectations for existing and new products. Documenting guidance and decisions is a core part of this advisory function. Supporting responses to subpoenas and regulatory information requests, including FinCEN Section 314(a) inquiries, is also required. Preparing clear written memos and governance-ready summaries for leadership and partner reporting is a regular task.
Finally, the role involves gathering and delivering information for internal and external regulatory reviews, examinations, audits, or other supervisory events. Supporting additional compliance-related initiatives and projects as assigned completes the scope of responsibilities.
