About the role

This executive leadership position serves as the primary financial partner to the President, COO, and Chief Product Officer. You will guide financial strategy for a large-scale software organization, balancing engineering trade-offs with corporate growth and profitability targets. In this capacity, you will synthesize complex operational data into coherent narratives that inform directional choices for the entire business. The role requires a partnership-oriented executive who can operate at the intersection of technology, finance, and product strategy with authority and clarity. You will be responsible for ensuring that financial constraints are integrated into the earliest stages of product and infrastructure decisions. The position demands a leader who can translate high-level corporate objectives into actionable plans for distributed teams. Success in this role will be defined by your ability to align financial rigor with the speed and ambition of a major software platform. You will steward the financial health of the organization while enabling innovation that drives long-term market leadership.

What you'll do

• Partner with executive leadership to drive global finance strategies and technology investment roadmaps, ensuring alignment with corporate priorities.
• Manage and mentor a global FP&A team, overseeing organizational structure and system scaling for the next five years to support enterprise growth.
• Direct annual financial planning, including revenue, Opex, and Capex, alongside quarterly re-forecasting to maintain accuracy and relevance in projections.
• Analyze infrastructure economics, including public cloud and datacenter costs, to identify optimization opportunities and mitigate financial risk.
• Execute ad-hoc financial analysis for new product proposals and investment decisions, providing rigorous insight that guides go/no-go choices.
• Create executive-level materials that articulate business performance, risks, and recommended actions to the C-suite and board stakeholders.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with product, engineering, and sales leaders to build consensus around strategic initiatives and financial expectations.
• Develop scenario models that evaluate the financial impact of strategic alternatives, enabling leadership to make informed decisions under uncertainty.
• Champion data integrity and process discipline across FP&A operations, establishing standards that enhance credibility and trust in financial outputs.
• Act as the central authority on cloud economics and cost architecture, translating complex billing and consumption metrics into actionable guidance.
• Lead special projects related to portfolio rationalization, M&A integration, or strategic pivots that require deep financial due diligence.
• Foster a culture of financial accountability within the organization by embedding cost awareness into product development lifecycles.

Requirements

• 15+ years of finance experience, preferably in high-growth software companies with $1B+ revenue, demonstrating sustained success in complex financial environments.
• 5+ years of experience managing large, high-performing teams with multiple layers of reporting, showcasing advanced leadership and development capabilities.
• Deep understanding of engineering cost drivers, including cloud infrastructure, software licensing, and contractor spend, with a track record of managing P&L impact.
• Proven ability to influence senior engineering leadership and translate complex financial data for non-finance stakeholders without sacrificing accuracy.
• Experience with SaaS business models and cloud-based financial operations, including familiarity with subscription metrics and scaling challenges.
• Strong strategic mindset with the ability to evaluate second-order consequences of business decisions across technology, finance, and market dynamics.
• Demonstrated success operating in fast-paced, ambiguous environments where data is limited but decisions must be made with confidence.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present sophisticated financial concepts to executive audiences.

Nice to have

• MBA or graduate degree from a top-tier institution, which may provide additional depth in strategic thinking and leadership frameworks.
• Technical academic background or early-career experience in IT or software engineering, offering insight into the practical realities of product and infrastructure development.

Skills & tools

• Financial planning and analysis (FP&A) expertise, including the design and execution of forecasting, budgeting, and reporting processes.
• Capital allocation and strategic modeling capabilities, with experience in evaluating investments and prioritizing resource deployment.
• Cloud infrastructure economics knowledge, including familiarity with major cloud providers and their cost structures.
• Executive communication and presentation skills, with a proven ability to synthesize information and drive decision-making.
• Organizational scaling and talent development experience, particularly in building high-performance finance teams across global regions.

Practical notes

• Base pay range: $282,700 - $480,500.
• Total compensation includes equity, variable incentive pay, health plans, 401(k) with match, ESPP, and family leave programs.
