Join the Fable team to lead the development of a top 5 app in the Books category. You will own the architectural roadmap and feature execution for an Android product that connects a vibrant community of readers. In this capacity, you will shape the long term vision for mobile experiences while translating strategic goals into tangible product milestones. You will act as a technical leader responsible for guiding complex initiatives from initial concept through production launch. What you'll do

• Design and build high quality Android features that directly enhance reader engagement and retention.
• Partner with design, product, and QE teams to ensure intuitive and polished user experiences across the application.
• Drive the technical direction and architectural evolution of the Fable Android app to support scalable growth.
• Improve code quality, test coverage, and release reliability through rigorous engineering practices.
• Mentor team members and actively participate in code reviews and design discussions to elevate overall engineering excellence.
• Use AI coding tools to accelerate development and automate software processes, integrating these technologies into the development lifecycle.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to define, prioritize, and execute the product roadmap in alignment with company strategy.
• Investigate and resolve complex technical challenges while maintaining a focus on performance, scalability, and user satisfaction.
• Contribute to the definition and implementation of engineering best practices, coding standards, and documentation.
• Analyze production data and user feedback to inform product decisions and drive iterative improvements.
• Lead the adoption of modern Android development techniques and tools within the team.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional Android development experience demonstrated through shipped applications.
• Proven track record of shipping consumer facing apps at scale with attention to performance and reliability.
• Proficiency in writing clean, maintainable Kotlin code that adheres to industry best practices.
• Deep expertise in Jetpack Compose, Coroutines, Flows, and MVVM or MVI patterns for building robust user interfaces.
• Ability to work from designated hubs in the US, Canada, or Mexico with occasional in person attendance as required.
• Strong understanding of mobile application lifecycle, including testing, release management, and monitoring.
• Experience working in an agile environment with iterative development cycles and frequent releases.
• Solid grasp of object oriented and functional programming principles as they apply to Android development.

• Experience optimizing app performance, stability, and crash metrics to improve user experience.
• Familiarity with Firebase or similar authentication and subscription frameworks for managing user access and monetization.
